Has anybody come up with an LED third brake light solution for replacing the Econoline OEM used by Foretravel? Have done some looking, but so far nothing. Even OEM replacements for the single third brake light are twice as much as a set of left & right taillight assemblies. Seems weird that the little cheap looking third brake light would command such a high price compared to the much more substantial set of both left and right assemblies...

Contact James at Xtreme, he has modified them.
Don,
When you come up with source/part number, please share it here. Thanks.
Richard
Sure will, but it is beginning to seem like I will have to fabricate something... wish they would have chosen to use F-150 third brake lights. Dozens of LED replacements for those... Anyway, not that high on the priority list at the moment. I have to get the solar (at least some of it) before the FMCA convention coming up too soon!
Don
Don, can you put in LED brake light bulbs in the incumbent? That is what I was hoping to do whenever we get back to Hastings. Roger
Roger has the solution. Remove center brake light, cut out back side, insert LED, seal up and reinstall. That is what others have had done.
That is probably what I will end up doing... though I think Roger is likely planning on just changing the incandescents bulbs out for LED's. I would prefer to have a clear lens with red LED's to match the others, but not real high on the priority list at then moment. I have a couple of nice bright 6" LED fixtures (1000 lumens) flood lights that I am going to put behind the grill to supplement the back up and docking lights, but one of those will actually fit in the third brake light alcove nicely.

I haven't looked inside of the center light. I am hoping to just plug in the same bulb in an LED brake version. I had my old Ford lights set up with LED bulbs. Way better than Incandescent.
I changed all the bulbs in my marker light with white LED bulbs. Some Amazon folks said to use red bulbs behind red lenses. Not a good choice.
My Jeep stands pretty tall. I wanted those behind to see around and over the Jeep.
Roger
Now I have to go look, I have the bulbs with me.
We just noticed 3 lights out in our center brake light. What is involved in just replacing them? Haven't looked at it yet.
Thanks, Dick
Just replaced mine on an 05 several months ago and I believe the LED light is the same on the 03. Forget the name of the manufacture but it is on the lens. Went to the web site and was not able to find the exact match however the customer service rep had me send the dimensions of the lens and a photo. She was able to ID the exact replacement, I think it cost about $10.00. They might be able to look up the part # from when they invoiced me, it would be under Gary Mauck.
Replacement was rather simple. Used a plastic spatula to pry the old lens off (double sided tape holds it in place), cut the wires coming from the old lens and spliced the wires from the new lens prior to adhering the lens in the recessed area it sits in.
