Title: Electrical stuff in Engine Compartment
Post by: Jerry Whiteaker on March 18, 2015, 07:24:49 pm
Anyone know the purpose of the equipment mounted at the forward end of the engine compartment?  I just remounted all of it on a new aluminum plate when I re-insulated the engine compartment.  I think the lower piece is a relay and just above it a fuse.  Not sure what the black plastic box with lots of wiring is, nor do I know the purpose of any of the 3 items.

On my 99 u 295 one of the big relays is the boost relay for the house bank, the other large one is the relay for grid heaters in the intake. There are more but I haven't had the need to investigate them yet.

Jerry,  That gear is the intake manifold pre-heat control, that also manages your dash "wait-to-start" light.  We just insulated around it.

Thanks,  the intake heater must pull quite a few amps, but I suppose it must.  If I ever have a problem with that, I know where to look.
