What would be the best way to defrost the freezer part of your unit?

Assuming you have an absorption refrigerator:

Turn the refrigerator OFF.

Wait an hour.

Transfer frozen food to an ice chest, Rubbermade tub, etc.

Use a hair dryer on LOW and do not go past the door with it (i.e. do not get the inside of the freezer hot-- it can distort the plastic.

Have a towel or sponge to collect the water.

After completely dry, turn it back on.  Wait 20-30 minutes and put frozen food back in.

Ice is a good insulator-- most people do not defrost often enough.

I just put a small fan in, instead of a hair dryer.
