Title: Purple oil in propane system
Post by: BamaFan on April 13, 2015, 11:15:21 am
Recently I noticed a purple oil about the consistency of motor oil in my propane system. It looks very much like transmission fluid. Can someone please explain this?

Royce,

Lots of discussion in previous threads re "Oil" in propane system - try the search function from the home page - see what you find!

Lots of work has gone into making that feature work great (Thanks Steve and Michelle!!!) making this forum oh so useful for everyone.  If you haven't used search here before - explore!!!

Sorry, I didn't try searching this time as Safari crashes when I try to use keyboard ( I just updated OS last week). Using my Netbook now.

Do you have a drip leg in your system ? If so drain it. It is probably compressor oil from the supplier. SHOULD not happen, but it does. Do you get propane from the same supplier often ? If so tell him he needs to clean his traps.
