I will soon be performing some maintenance on the generator that's in our 2003 U320. I have never slid it out before and have been unable to locate a procedure. I know there are two retaining bolts in the front that must be removed and the exhaust disconnected. Anyone done this that could advise if there is more to it than that? Tricks of the trade? Is this something I want to do? Thanks in advance.

When I first tried to slide ours out, I thought it would take an act of congress to get it to move. Various spray lubricants and cleaning the tracks along with some choice words and determination finally got it out. May be different when the radiator and cooling fan are not part of the generator like on our 8K...

Most I have seen have a extra flex section on the exhaust, so not necessary to disconnect it.
I took the 2 bolts outs to slide it forward. It was enough to get to the electrical connections behind it to clean them from underneath. Can't see them without pulling it out. I could not get to the rollers to lubricate them without removing the exhaust which I did not want to do.
