Just replaced the bed struts. It's great to have that baby hang up there unassisted. Anyhow, I went with Atwood 170# struts as suggested by BrettW in an old post. We have a memory foam mattress so it's quite heavy. Anyhow, I replaced struts on the same setup in another rig several years ago. They were run of the mill Internet purchased units and they did not hold up. Worked great for a month or so - that's all. Anyhow, for future reference these are:
Atwood Corporation
SL25-170-1
Gas Spring 26" X 16"
About $60 delivered for the pair
One thing to look out for: The clips that came with these (photo) were too large so I used the old ones which fit just right. I could have used the new ones but would have had to squeeze them a bit so they would grab the shaft. Also, I plan to be mindful of BarryB's admonition regarding the piano hinge ripping out. Mine looks good right now.

My bed struts just would hold the bed up until I replaced the heavy foam engine compartment insulation that was falling apart. It had a type of sheet lead between two layers of foam. Now no problem staying up as the new insulation weighs less. I also found that the wood screws near the lower strut attachment had worked loose allowing the metal to flex. I replaced the screws with 4 small bolts on each side, now it is solid with no flexing.
