Title: Balance or not with centrimatics?
Post by: Caflashbob on April 23, 2015, 04:47:36 pm
Has anyone any results from not balancing new tires when mounted if you have centrimatics already?

Bob,

Should be no issue unless they are WAY out of balance.  And with today's tires very unlikely unless lots of "run-out". And, balancing won't cure an egg-shaped tire.

Nope, I always balance my tires and still use the Centrimatics . It is hard to believe they would zero out all imbalances.

Jim,

You might want to check with Centramatics as to how much out of balance they will compensate for.  I know the amount is different for front vs rear (rear will compensate for more imbalance).

Let us know what you find.

A good balance with Centramatics on the front make sense.  If you go past balancing the duals and notice anything, I would have a hard time not going back and finding the problem due to the mass of a dual assembly (unless you are running re-caps which is way less than a smart idea >).  pc

When the Michelin tires on my coach were about 6 yrs old the front tires suddenly went out of balance and developed odd wear spots on the tires.  I didn't lose any weights that would have caused the problem.  I bought Centramatics for front and rear although the rear had even wear.  This helped  but could not give a totally smooth ride due to the uneven wear on the front tires.  A short time later the tires were replaced with new tires that were not balanced, just using Centramatics for balance.  Ride is still smooth and no uneven wear after 5000 miles.  Only time will tell if the wear stays even, so far no problem.

A year ago, when I installed new tires and Centramatics; Centramatics were recomming to balance.

Having experience with a tire that required 14 oz to balance explained why the magic Equal nor the magic Centramatics could handle.  The tire shop laughed & convinced me to forget all the magic crap and save money with a proper road force balance.  Been a happy kid since. Been over ten yrs ago, none of all the sweet claims here will ever change how I spend my money.
