Today, while driving from Memphis to Nashville we stopped at a Rest Area for a bathroom break. While Vicki walked Lilly I hit the head. To my surprise the toilet (Thetford Aria) was full of water. I opened the manual valve and the water did not go down.
Checked tank levels, fresh empty, black full. This morning when we left Memphis, the fresh was full, grey and black empty.
Seems that the toilet went on flush mode and emptied the fresh water tank, filled the black tank and pumped 50 gals out the flush inlet. At least 50 gallons wasn't pumped out of the toilet into our motorhome.
We are not going to get this toilet fixed. We're going to get a manual toilet.
Shopping starts tomorrow. Looking for a Thetford Aria Manual.
Any other ideas?
Sometimes all this automation is not for the best.

I would thoroughly check to see if there is flooding in the basement around the holding tanks. This is the very reason we don't travel with our water pump on.

We too turn off our water pump whenever traveling, over night or when the coach is not in use.
I changed out my electric to the manual version high rise.
I agree. I had to replace my overly complicated toilet at Quartsite. We chose a simple push pedal toilet and we love the simplicity.

We are waiting for the completion of the change from TurboTurd 3000 to CrapHandler 500. We are still able to use the vacuum system that is necessary (we are not in a direct drop situation), but I am delighted to get rid of the scary and unreliable electronic. A full report on the conversion will be coming when it is completed. I have tole the installers that I want to salvage the parts from the TurboTurd ... so there may be an electronic board and some other parts available in a short time. Stay tuned!! This model is a Sealand Magnum Opus Vacuflush 3010 series. It is working very well since we had all the duckbills replaced, but I just know that it will wait to quit when I have a coach full of grandkids and am miles away from any place who could repair......
You just have to wonder when a toilet has a name Sealand Magnum Opus Vacuflush 3010 series that long, it has to be problematic! It's kinda scary actually, Honey if you need me I'll be on the Magnum Opus Vacuflush,! ! !!!
Carol and Jeff's has been unusually cantankerous. We have the same model and wouldn't hesitate to have one again.

Monday morning we ordered a Thetford Aria manual toilet from the RV dealer near the Nashville KOA. Here is the link to the toilet Aria Classic (w/ and w/o Water Saver) (http://thetford.com/?TabId=86)
The toilet was delivered this morning. However, Monday is the earliest that the dealer could install it. We don't have a two bath FT so we chose to install it ourselves. Bolt holes and plumbing lined up perfectly. A previous post mentioned marking the toilet location with masking tape, which was very helpful. We agree with Barry that stepping on the pedal is as easy as pushing the button.
Update ... After weeks of conversation between the repair facility (Premier Motor Coach here in Tucson) Service Manager and Sealand/Dometic Sanitation, the appropriate model was sent for installation. Assured by Dometic that it was the exact and appropriate replacement, we were expecting good things. HOWEVER ... what they failed to address was that the mechanics that actually flush the commode are on top of the floor and the china bit sits directly on it. The new commode sits perfectly on the flushing mechanism, but does not reach the floor! So, a box would need to be built and we would also lose the storage cabinet behind the toilet. Sigh. Our guy went over and over all this with Whatshername at Dometic. Fat lot of good it did!!
So ... the Turbo Turd is going to stay. My guy is lengthening the wire connections that are VERY short and make finding any loose connection really difficult. Constant vibration causes loose wires, inevitably ... so we need to be able to access the board and all the connections. That will be one thing addressed. I was also worried that the board itself would fail and I would not be able to find another. I now know that they are still to be had, as they are used in many marine toilet units. My board also has a good protective coating and is in very nice shape for it's age. The coating is because it is generally a marine component, and protects against corrosion from salt and moisture ... makes sense to me! The vacuum system was just serviced, the board is in good shape, the wiring is being tightened up ..... I am going to think good thoughts and go boldly into the future with no fear of being stranded in the middle of nowhere with a coach full of grandkids and no crapper.

Must have missed something as I would have thought it would be easy to figure out as all the ones I have seen go over the hole in the floor!!!!

I like my Microphor toilet.
I got rid of mine and put in a mechanical. No vacu flush system on mine but it was electric. The new one uses less water and we can control it much better and it flushes better too.
liked my Microphor until I had to repair twice - parts are ridiculous, bought same toilet as JohnS -Love it

The Microphor folks are welcome to put their kids in college out of THEIR pocket.
