Title: 1989's tires (split from general topic)
Post by: Keith and Joyce on April 29, 2015, 01:51:20 pm
Mark,

Don't worry too much about the color of the oil.  it's always black in a diesel.

Your biggest worry is the tires.  Make sure you have the correct pressures and check them often as you go along AND keep your speed down.  Heat build-up is the death of old tires.

Hey Kieth,

The tires are BF GOODRICH ..  they look like new.. the owner said his son had put new ones one it.. yah well,  DOT date shows 04 08 on the tires..  assuming that's april of 08.  they are 7 years old..

I put 90 PSI in all tires as per drivers placard instructions

Thanks

Partly correct.  04 is 4th week 08 is 2008.  So January 2008.
