Title: 91 GV "DEUTSCH" connector
Post by: fkjohns6083 on April 30, 2015, 10:01:05 pm
The electrical schematic for my 91 GV shows the engine instrumentation (sensors) to terminate at the engine in what is called a "DEUTSCH" connector.  I can't find anything that looks like what I think a connector should look like.  All I can see that has a bunch of wires going into it is a box that says Bendix on it and apparently is for the cruise control.  Anyone out there know where this connector is and/or could it be in this cruise control box??  Thanks and have a great day  ----  Fritz

The deutsch connector if you have one, is just a waterproof connector the manufacturer is Deutsch. Here are some examples

Thanks Stump, that is basically what I was trying to find and wasn't successful.  I'll keep looking, it may be hidden on top of the engine somewhere or wrapped up in the wiring harness.  I'll see if I can trace a wire back to it.  Have a great day  ----  Fritz

Do you have a Detroit DDEC  engine?

Scroll down past half way on this page and you will find the 3, 6 or 9 pin plugs used by NEXIQ, one of the brands that made our Pro-Link 9000.  http://www.nexiq.com/images/2010_NEXIQ_Catalog.pdf

If you have a Detroit, it uses a different connector located (but hard to see) under the dash on the driver's left. Check under the dash and photo the connector you have there. Has to be an electronic engine to give all the information. CATs use a plug that looks like a Deutsch.

Thanks guys,  our 91 GV has the Cat. 300 hp engine.  I didn't look under the dash only because the schematic said "at engine".  I'll check under the dash and see what may be hiding under there.  I've been in there many times but not specifically looking for this item.  Thanks again and have a great day  ----  Fritz

I didn't mean under the dash top but move the driver's seat all the way to the rear and get down on the carpet and look up close to where the bottom of the dash assembly meets the side wall. Again, only good if you have an "electric" CAT.
