Title: Hydraulic oil leak
Post by: MrIrishSam on May 03, 2015, 08:39:19 pm
Hi Guys and Gals  Still getting used to my new 2002 Foretravel
While transferring stuff from our old motor to our new motorhome,  I noticed on the right side  I have an oil leak in the slider hydraulic system  Not a whole lot, but more than I would expect..  Any thoughts?

I have a different system then you  - but when I had oil leaking it was because the Hydraulic cylinders were leaking.

Vewry expensive to buy new from HWH, and often have to be built to order. I had mine rebuilt in a day at a local shop in NAC for $125 ea.

Just added about a gallon of oil to reservoir  Ran the slides in and out a couple times  and found I have oil leaking below the system pump,  could I have a seal going bad there.

MrIrish,

Some models years require the slide to be in when checking and filling the slide reservoir level and other years have the slide out. Filling it with the slide in the wrong direction will cause an overflow out the filler cap.

Jim is correct.  Here is the info on Barry's site Room Positioning for Checking Oil Level in the HWH Hydraulic Reservoir (http://www.beamalarm.com/Documents/room_positioning_for_checking_oil_level_in_the_hwh_hydraulic_reservoir.html)

On a 2002, Living room and wardrobe/closet slides are to be extended; if the rear slide has the bed in it, it should be retracted.
