Title: Shower Head Holder Needs Repair
Post by: Bill B on May 04, 2015, 09:35:50 pm
The pin that holds the shower head to the slide bar has come loose.  A while back it came loose and I cleaned the splines on the pin and slider, tapped it snugly into place with a mallet and thought it was fixed.  It came loose again so I'm looking for ideas on how to fix.  I was thinking maybe J B Weld around the splines and then tap into place?  Has anyone had to repair this?

If JB weld doesn't work, are you familiar with what is called a "Dutchman's pin"? It involves drilling a hole at right angles to the axis of the pin you want to stay put. Drill the hole while your pin is in place, right at the parting line between the pin & the hole. Use a tap drill and then tap the hole while everything is together. Add a long set screw with Loctite and the assembly will stay together until YOU want to take it apart.

or, just clean it all out really good, dry the parts and put a drop of the "crazy glue" on them both and press it in. It should stick together and not come out. It has to be clean and dry before using glue.

Thanks for the tips guys!  I tried the Locktite an its good for now. If it comes loose again, out comes the drill and tap.
