Title: automatic leveling system , and tanks alarm system
Post by: Delrio on May 06, 2015, 09:25:26 am
I recently bought a beautiful 1985 33RB Foretravel .... we are loving the motorhome , but I noticed that one of the previous owners had disconnected (clipped all the wires to the systems) both the automatic leveling system , and the tanks alarm system .... and I was wondering , does anyone have any idea why someone would have done this ... and do you think that it would be worth the trouble trying to re-locate all the wiring and re-connect it again ?

Thanks

I have no idea why anyone would clip the wires.  I would say putting in a new tank monitoring system like a sea level would be the way to go.  I doubt that the current system on the tanks would still work. As to the leveling system, that is the first I have heard of it.

My guess: the PO had a audible alarm (annunciator) going off, and could not figure out how to SILENCE THE D@%N THING!  So he kept cutting wires until it shut up.  I sympathize - I have the same problem, but fortunately I can mute mine with the volume adjustment screw.

By the way, WELCOME to the Forum, Delrio!  The More, The Merrier!

Another welcome to the Foreforums.

Here is a link the the SeeLevel company system that many forum members have installed.

Garnet Instruments | The source for leading edge solutions in liquid management. (http://www.garnetinstruments.com/)

Link to the RV products:
RV Tank Monitors | Garnet Instruments (http://www.garnetinstruments.com/rv-shop/)

A search in this forum will help find a number of threads telling about how easy to install, and how well they work.
Good lucky with your new system.  My last Foretravel had the Seelevel system installed by Kent Speers, and I will do the same if my system fails.

As to someone cutting all the coach leveling wires, that is strange as John said, and Chuck might be correct.

Thank you so much ... both for the welcome to the forum , and for the information about the Garnet Tank Monitoring system . I watched the video on their site , and checked out  a few of them , and it looks like I'll be investing in one of those for the motorhome

I really appreciate the help & the information

As for the leveling system ... do you think that's something better left alone ?

As for the leveling system ... do you think that's something better left alone ?
1.  Determine (somehow) what was the function of the (leveling system) clipped wires.
2.  If it is a critical function, try to restore it.
3.  If it is non-critical, or you can live without it, don't worry about it.
4.  If the clipped wires fed a signal to the noise maker (annunciator), there might also be a matching warning light on the instrument panel.
5.  If there is a matching warning light, the missing audible alarm becomes less critical
