Title: Troubleshooting Leveling System
Post by: toyman on May 28, 2015, 02:58:21 pm
My HWH leveling system works fine. The problem is, it is always working. It seems to add, or vent air every time it wakes up, then runs the 12v compressor. Any tips on figuring out where to start on figuring out the problem ?

Sounds like an air leak.  If you level and then turn the HWH off for a few hours, I would expect you would see the side that is losing air drop out of level.  It would give you a place to start looking for leaks.

Dave,

Go to page below, follow the 2nd link from the top (Leveling System Identification), identify the system on your coach.

Go back to the 1st page, scroll down to find a link to your system Service Manual...it should include a trouble-shooting section.

+1  Sounds like classic leak symptoms.  First likely culprit are the 6-pack manifold o-rings.

Thanks, seems to vent from the front, then next cycle add to the rear. Probably work on it in the fall.

The way the system works to maintain level is that it will always try to exhaust the high end/side first, and when it can't get that low enough to achieve level it will then pump up the low end/side.

I would highly suspect the rear HWH six pack o-rings (RAP6554 or see this post for individual sizes Our leveling system problem (http://www.foreforums.com/index.php?topic=12423.msg67934#msg67934) )

When it is level, measure the air bags at each corner. We had a problem where we thought it was an air leak causing one side to lower. Turned out to be a leaky Raise solenoid causing the opposite side to raise. Replaced solenoid.
Just another thought....

Thanks Dick, this fall, when I return to Texas (hand over heart 🇨🇱) and it's cooler, I'll get a chair, a nice toddy, and measure stuff. Then sit back and figure out for sure what it's doing.
