Title: Fuel line replacement without going to Nacadoches
Post by: Kemahjohn on May 28, 2015, 10:15:41 pm
Just picked up my 96' U320 after having the fuel lines replaced in Dickinson Texas.  For those of you that live in the Houston area, and don't want to go all the way to Nac to have fuel lines replaced, I can now recommend Taylor Automotive at 3302 Hwy 3 in Dickinson.  They have one high bay for RV work, and usually have 6-8 motor homes in their lot for work.  They are competent and knowledgeable about motor homes, and familiar with Foretravel.  The good news is, they are much less expensive than the Nacodoches folks for changing fuel lines, and they do a good job.  They will even let you provide the fuel line yourself, whichwill save you some bucks.  If you are near Houston, I recommend Wilco Supply for wholesale fuel hose.
The labor cost to replace the supply line  (5/8") and the return line (1/2") including pulling an airline the length of the coach for an added 120V aux compressor and an anti chaf guard for a transmission oil line was $1179.00.  In my case the generator and aqua hot fuel lines were in good shape and did not need replacing.  My hose cost was $170 for both the supply and return lines which I supplied (Parker hose).

Taylor did a good job and followed my instructions on how I wanted it done.  The cost was about half of what I was quoted from the Nac folks, and I am happy with the results.
Their phone number is 281-337-7060.
One word of caution----be prepared to leave you coach for about a week to get this job done-- they work several jobs at a time with "daily drivers" being first priority.  The good news is, you won't have to wait weeks to get it done.  All they need is a couple of days notice to get you scheduled in, and that is nice.  This is a family owned business that has been there for many years, good folks.
The only thing I had to soon picking up the coach was clean a few grease finger prints off the outside with some 409 and drive off-- great feeling, and the job was done right.

A couple days to schedule you in is great.
