I saw one time a J-sofa that had a partition that separated the table and traditional sofa area by a board or such that slipped into the seam between the two areas, thereby making an arm rest on the otherwise open end of the sofa where the table area began. In that case I think it was a reclining type of pillow up against the partition. Jill told me she thinks there is one made that has a matching sofa cloth over the partition but I have not asked at FOT yet.
I guess perhaps a piece of plywood was used? But I am fairly certain I saw one of stained wood that looked very nice.
Anyone done this, have any ideas beyond the above or how to improve the idea I put above? A friend, a forum member, is thinking of a purchase of a coach with that sofa/table design.

I'd like to see a photos of J-couch solutions. When we got this 95 I removed the J-couch. I thought we might put in a table, cabinet or something. Anyhow, I ended up just capping the end of the couch with a panel similar to the one on the other couch. The now vacant area became a good spot for a dog bed and sundry items. I'm betting there are some great solutions out there.

Mike, I am experimenting with different table shapes for our J shaped dinette. (Cutting up 1" foam insulation board to try size and shape variations, cheaper than wood)' The football shaped table was so close to the back end when we got it that I removed the table and rotated it end for end and reattached the slide mechanism. That moved the table forward 11". What I am experimenting with is a more rectangular shaped table, not as deep but about the same area with the forward edge aligned with the joint between the couch and the sofa. I made a panel out of 3/8" baltic birch plywood that will just slip between the couch and dinette below the cushions where the frames are and in between the back cushions. When it is in place it is just above the top of the table onto which the plywood panel can be supported. Susan made a wedge shaped foam bolster and a simple fabric cover that leans up against the plywood panel making a back rest or an arm rest.
When I am closer I will post pictures.
I am also replacing the three 20" deep drawers in the L part of the kitchen with 30" deep drawers, plenty of room and self closing slides. It is like another drawer and a half in otherwise wasted space.

I have such a cushion in off white leather. New owner welcome to it for shipping cost. Hate the J lounge, David at FOT taking out my scissor couch and J lounge, putting in traditional dinette and queen sleeper ( with new flooring) starting Tuesday
