I am beyond excited. I'm flying to Houston Tuesday morning, picking up a car and driving to NAC to meet Brett Wolfe at MOT to inspect my new coach, Steve Mudd's 1993 U300 GV. (May he rest in peace) If all goes well I'll spend a couple of days there getting to know the coach and will then head home to start our new adventure.
The members here have been amazing, Willing to take their time to help me, a complete stranger. I am grateful for that.
We are looking forward to meeting you on the road!
Is there anything better than seeing the country, accompanied by your own bed and bathroom? :D
Driving my coach to NAC on Sunday for some repairs (leaking hydraulic pump) and other stuff. Hope to see both of you.
I was at MOT yesterday and that is one beautiful, well cared for coach, from just looking at the outside and inside one can tell the previous owner took care of the machine. Good luck with your purchase, if no mechanical issues found, it should serve you well.
We are planning to be at mot Wednesday. Hope to have the opportunity to meet you. We plan to be there a few days for minor repairs and service, and mostly goofing off.
That coach is a honey. Hope your travels are as enjoyable as seemed that Steve's were.
JY.....your no longer a stranger! Once you drive off in that beautiful GV you are part of the FT family!
I'm so happy you found the "right " Foretravel. Your patience sure paid off!
I'm sure the inspection will go fine.
You are about to begin several episodes in your life that you will always remember.
First, when you first see the coach.
When you first enter the coach.
When you are overwhelmed as the features are explained to you and you realize ALL THERE IS TO LEARN.
When you are first left alone with the coach and the entire "thing" sinks in.
The weak knees when you know its finally time to put the pedal to the metal, and you know your support line has been severed, its all you now.
The feeling you will get as you head down the road and your confidence builds, eventually a smile , then the moment you discover you made the right decision, and this Motorhome IS exactly what you were hoping it would be.
The moment you arrive home.
The moment you get out and look at it sitting there.
Priceless moments and memories in your life!
Enjoy them all!
She's a dandy... good for you.
Thanks Lon, and thanks for all of your support in answering all of my questions and calling put really important things I hadn't thought about!
I look forward to meeting you in September on my way to Madison. I'll make sure that happens.
I am able to meet before madison too
Tim are you also in the Chcago area? I would definitely like to,meet us if we can arrange it.
I'm ready to go, all packed, including 2 empty, fresh notebooks with extra pens, a change of work clothes to get under the coach with Brett w on Wednesday morning, a camera, a new Garmin RV GPS, a flashlights and set of good quality walkie-talkies for backing up,
I can't remember being this excited about something for a long time. My wife is definitely edging on board, asking lots of questions and thinking about outfitting the coach. I got my application to join the motorcade club from FT. As soon as the ink is dry on the contract I'll turn in the application and get Sandy on the wait list for them ladies driving school. That was her idea and once again that proves how lucky I am. She will be a full time coach partner.
Originally she wanted to buy an airstream or a 5th wheel so she was a bit reluctant about going this route.
Once I was able to show her the timeless quality and design of this Foretravel with hardwood walls and cabinetry She saw the light and she is all in. . An Airstream or 5th wheel and a new HD diesel pickup up with a hitch would have been way more expensive.
Plus with a motorhome as soon as the door is closed you are vacationing. Even comparing the fit/finish of a top end airstream of 5 wheel we think the classic travel coaches leave the others in the dust.
I'm flying out in the morning to NAC. I rented a car from Enterprise that I can drive to NAC and turn in there when I am finished. I'm meeting Brett at 9:00am Monday. I added the flexibility of spending another day to take advantage of being at MOT to spend as much time as I can training once the inspection is over.
The coach has a Blu Ox motorcycle lift that I will probably have removed if MOT can fit me on. Tim expressed Interest but it doesn't look like that will work out. My understanding is that it will take some work to weld the three point hit to a coach. I am sure it's easier to remove than it is to install. If anyone is interested in buying the lift, let me know.
Thanks for everything and safe travels to all.
Fortunately am bringing a good friend to keep me company and help me with the drive if I need it. We love this young max like a son and he is so excited that he may pop. He is a manager in my store during the summers and vacations as he is studying to be a flight nurse during the school year. He is hungry for knowledge and is probably the most mature and intelligent 20 years old I've ever met, other than my two sons of course. :D
It's his first plane trip ever and his first trip to Texas. :D I wonder if I can get the flight attendant to hook him up with a set of wings to commemorate his first flight.
He has only asked for two things during this adventure.....gray Tex Mex food and a cowboy hat. There appear to be many alternatives for both in NAC. Any recommendations would.be appreciated.
I look forward to meeting any folks that are currently in NAC for service.
I will post from the road! Many thanks again for you hospitality and willingness to share your knowledge with a newb!
Yes, I am in Chicago

If your lift is like my Blue Ox lift, it should come off with the removal of three pins, and disconnection of the power supply. As to adding the lift to another Foretravel, should only take a welder less than 2 hours to figure out and weld on two more receivers. I have seen a number of coaches with the extra receiver mounts.
Enjoy the new coach.
Dave sent you a PM.

Sitting here at MOT, getting the FT serviced tomorrow. Look forward to meeting you. I suggest that you look at RV Driving School, instead of the FT course for her....maybe both.
Mike Rodgers and Keith Risch owe me a call back. Mike indicated that I needed to buy $509 in parts and they needed an outside welder to come in and add the receivers to my coach. Was promised a price today for that work, but when I sent a text to Mike he said I would have it tomorrow. Apparently MOT is slammed. Would like to work it out since my coach is in Meccadoches, but Mike and Keith still owe me price.
I will say that Mike did not make it sound as easy as you suggest. Hopefully get it worked out tomorrow.
Some one could go visit my coach in Flanagans shop at FOT
JY, tomorrow is the big day. I remember the excitement and the terror of the day we bought our coach. All those feelings are tempered by time, experience, confidence and the everyday joy of your Foretravel.
Best luck tomorrow and down the road. We are all here to help as needed.
Roger
Tim, I would have sat and visited your coach, but so much to do and so little time. If it's still here on my way back south in the fall I'll have a chat with it ! 😉
I sold my Cruiserlift motorcycle lift on Craig's List for $1500 in a couple days. Dave knows what he is saying. It's simple to add two receivers to a FT. Smitty's Welding in Katy did mine.
ThAts what I thought too. Not sure why MOT is saying different , is cruiser lift hydraulic? What is weight capacity?
We can have a mini Rally outside of Chicago. ;+)
I look forward to meeting you Tim.
Great to be excited but time to get everything fixed or repaired. Stay in coach close for couple nights and you may find couple more small things. You are on the right track. But appears you will not return to Nacogdoches very often so take your time and get to know the setup and how to make it work for you. DAN
After you wear out your welcome at MOT, you could drive a mile down the road to Camp FOT and park there for the night. Ask them inside at the Service Writer's offices, and they might let you stay for "free". Tell them you want to buy some "stuff" for your new coach, but need a night's stay to complete your shopping list. Good opportunity to meet the shop guys, poke around the shop, meet other coach owner's, etc.
They have a nice selection of (over-priced) clothing, hats & gear with Foretravel logo for sale in the sales office (east end of building).
You could also visit with Beverly Koonce in the Motorcade Club office and sign up, if you are so inclined. ^.^d
While at FOT, pick up a couple of cans of Wood Doctor for you wood--- great stuff.
and see Bev Koonce and get your free year of Motorcade membership - good for 10% off at MOT and FOT and Tennessee RV and Parliament motor coach
I hope everything went well today.
Just SE of NAC is the Sam Rayburn Reservoir with some nice Corp of Engineers campgrounds. A short shakedown drive, nice campgrounds, any issues you are not far from MOT. Always worth a couple of days to try all you learned on your own and everything you still need to learn.

I am here. I arrived at closing but I got to spend a few minutes in the coach. So far so good. One thin I did notice. The listing said it has a Tempupedic mattress. It has a new brad new mattress but I'm pretty sure it isn't a tempurpedic, which is important to me. I'll find out more tomorrow.
We should be at MOT before noon tomorrow. Look forward to meeting you.
Perhaps there is a Public Health rule prohibiting licensed RV dealers from selling a coach with a "used" mattress?
I'm only half kidding - I know Salvation Army and Goodwill won't take ANY pre-owned bedding donations, even if in "like new" condition.
What a day! Many thanks to Brett Wolfe and his lovely wife. The coach is awesome. I learned a lot and have a long, steep and exciting learning curve ahead.
A few things need attending to and are being done today and tomorrow. I signed up for the Motorcade Club. If all goes well I should be on the road tomorrow night.
I went ahead and agreed to a full oil and chassis service, all filters, generator service, coolant flush and service, etc.
MOT was kind enough to provide a full fuel tank.
As mentioned before thanks to all on the forum that helped me along the way.
that is great news on the new coach. You have a baseline now for maintenance with the service. I would stay close to MOT for a day and live in the coach to make sure everything works and head out a day later. It is already weds, and the difference between leaving thursday or friday is not much.
Ok. Now......Quartzsite......end of January 2016. Be there or be square.
Sorry we missed you, to hot for us, as soon as MOT finished we headed NORTH !
What John said :)
Congratulations ^.^d
