Title: Tomorrow is move in day!
Post by: Jeff & Sandy on June 18, 2015, 08:07:40 pm
My wife and I have a rare day off together tomorrow, the first since I brought the coach home. We will spend the day moving our things into the coach....things from home, recent arrivals from Amazon and Crate & Barrel and whatever we can find in our storage unit in town.

At the end of the day we will take the coach (my wife's first ride) 5 miles, just outside of town to our permanent storage facility. It's a temperature control ed, secure warehouse where we can keep it plugged in. The only downside is the need to work with their schedule if we want to get the coach out.

I envy those able to park their coaches at home. It sure would make things easier. We live in the Blue Ridge Mountains, 8 miles off of the Blue Ridge Parkway.  Our cabin is at the end of a bumpy dirt road with lots of elevation changes and a couple of hairpin turns thrown in for fun.  That said I wouldn't trade our location and view for anything. This is a fall view from our back porch:

Storage is always a challenge. In our previous neighborhood RV parking was allowed off street,  so I had a cement driveway with extra room put in. When we built our current house in 2005, the neighborhood has restrictions preventing RV parking anywhere. I found indoor parking with electric within walking distance (we live on the edge of town). It is the next best thing to parking in your own driveway, but of course I pay a monthly fee. I have a key and have access 24x7.

Storing the coach inside is good for it and me.  I am glad we had the room to build a barn with power in it and water nearby.  We love that part of NC. Your view is why.  Roger

Beautiful sticks & bricks location, and now a Foretravel too! I have fond memories of your part of the USA, from when part of my family lived at Martinsville. We even have two prints of Mabry Mill hanging in our dining room. Only in week 4 of our new to us coach, I'm still grinning. Enjoy your Foretravel!

Jeff and Sandy,  that is a beautiful view.  We live in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.  We love it here too, but know what you mean about winding roads.

You will be getting a welcome letter soon from us in the Mid Atlantic Motorcade chapter.  We would love for you to join us for a chapter rally. The next one is in October in Winchester, VA.  In the meantime, we hope you get to enjoy your coach this summer.

Ditto!

I stored the coach for 5 years about 2 miles away and would go down to work on fixing something afterwards just relax watch TV or read enjoying the coach and solitude....so nice I almost got locked in the storage yard more than a few times! :-[
