Title: Sensitve Generator
Post by: TAS69 on June 22, 2015, 08:36:06 am
Hello All,
Our Generator seems to run smooth and reliable so long as we dont stop abruptly, take any tight corners or stop on an angle! Gary B shared that his 280 had similar issues accompanied with the exceptionally hard start after it stalled. Apparently the culprit is most likely a loose electrical connection on the control panel behind the unit, wondered if anyone else had ever had this problem and if there were any photos floating around before I start tracking down . If this isn't our problem we'll look into a new fuel pump, am told it could be loosing prime when jostled.
                                                                                        Thanks , Tom

Tom,

Next time that happens, pull over and open the generator compartment and listen/feel the fuel pump while someone tries to start it.  If you do not feel the fuel pump working, check for voltage to it.  That will tell you whether you have a power or pump problem (or that you need to look elsewhere for the problem).

If this only occurs with less than 1/2 tank of fuel, your generator pickup tube may be sucking air on sharp maneuvers.

Never happened below half tank[we try to avoid getting below half period] It always occurs when jostled or stopped on healthy lean to the drivers side. The company in Florida that made the gen. said fuel pump. Gary's experience sounds identical and I would hate to replace a healthy pump only to discover a loose connection.
