Title: Horn won't work
Post by: MrIrishSam on June 30, 2015, 10:27:44 pm
Hi everyone, I am back again  my horn on my 2002 U295 doesn't work.  Where and how can I check the electrical connections to the horn  I suspect the horn may have been disconnected previously.  When I push the horn button absolutely nothing happens.

Probably the air  solenoid.
Not sure about your 2002, but mine is located on the other side of the air gauge behind the instrument cluster on the dash.
Inexpensive easy fix. Enjoy, they aren't all that way!

Pneumatic Relay was the bottom line to get my horn back in action.
Don't cheap out, buy the best relay you can locate..

I spent way too much time thinking it was the button assembly which I discovered is rarely (if ever) the issue. pc

Where is the horn "button" on later model coaches?  On the GV models, it is in the center of the steering wheel, and often IS the problem.  Our horn was intermittent.  I removed the button cover, and saw that there is a single yellow wire that connects to the "contacting plate" that, when grounded by the button, honks the horn.  In our case, the wire had separated from the crimp connector, but was still loosely retained by the insulation.  When I touched the wire, it fell out of the connector.  Obviously had been broken for some time, but was still making random contact, causing the intermittent horn.  I repaired the broken wire - horn fixed.  ^.^d
