Title: Back up Camera (color)
Post by: Mike & Joanne Whitaker on July 16, 2015, 08:30:49 pm
OK I have a question! I want to replace the camera on the 93 U225 motorhome.  I'm looking for suggestions, anybody have any that they can share with me.

Thanks, Joanne

I just installed one of the 3 camera systems (left, right, rear) from Rear View Safety.  I'm impressed with it.  You'll have to pull a new cable to the rear camera though since it doesn't use the same type of cable.

I recently replaced my monitor in my 92 GV.  I kept the black and white camera.  if you want a color camera, you will probably have to replace the monitor.  There are many places to get both items but as recommended by many on the forum ( this is who I used) talk to Tim at  rvcams.com.  finding a monitor that fits the existing space is a little challenging, but the one I got from RVCAMS fits and looks good and does not require any modification to existing area.  The thing you have to worry about is reverse imaging from the audit system.  Lots of info on the forum about all aspects of cameras and monitors.  Can do pictures (maybe) of new monitor and how it looks in existing location.

I have just completed installation of a wireless dual box camera with wireless 7" lcd split screen monitor.  Installation is very clean.  Will mount monitor with suction cup mount on side window with alignment to the rear view mirrors.  Around $335.00.  Tadi Bros off the internet.  Technical service was tops!  You can get a single camera wireless system for around $240 and change.  Still using old crt screen for the javelin level system(still works).

Do you have true color on the monitor?  Have some else that can't get the color correct with the same model.  Two different cameras and two different monitors.  Greens are brown...reds are purple etc.
Thanks Joanne

I installed a 7" TFT monitor and color camera on my 96' U320.  Used existing wiring from the old black and white camera .  It works great and the total cost of the monitor and camera was $69.00 on eBay.  The color camera works fine with the old monitor as well, but black and white image with it of course.  I am very pleased with the result.

Mike,
I would appreciate seeing a good photo of your monitor, when it is showing (if possible) some green grass and trees behind your coach.  I have a wireless system from Tadi's, and have never been pleased with the accuracy of the color rendition.  Thanks.
