We are really excited and look forward to meeting everyone in less than two weeks! When is everyone arriving for Jeff and Sandy's FT Bootcamp? ;D I cannot imagine how much I'm going to learn.
We are newb's with our new coach but are old hands at 'camping'. I'm not sure what the protocol is but we would like to invite everyone attending over for a potluck breakfast on Friday morning, weather permitting.
We 'process' our own hog once a year. The hogs we use are certified humane and are corn fed, drug free, raised in clean, range free, environment. I make my own sausage. The sausage is made completely with shoulder meat and spices...no parts.
Anyway, if I can get a headcount I'll be sure to have enough for all. I will be honored to supply grilled sausage, and scrambled farm fresh eggs. One of our employees raises chickens and the eggs are amazing. People may need to bring chairs, coffee and anything else you'd like to accompany your breakfast. I'll have disposable plates, silverware, napkins, etc. I'll be grilling the sausage patties and have a Coleman two burner stove for the eggs.
Thanks all, let me know what you think....
Have a great weekend.
Jeff
I am planning to arrive the 6th, have reservation for 6th & 7th, then see what goes. Looking forward to the meet & greet, am not the social butterfly, DW will not be along, trying to have her send the cats to a boarding school so we can travel together.
Chow sounds great for an old farm kid. Thanks
Jeff, that sounds fantastic! I was gonna do a PM to everybody but this is great. So far my list shows about 6-7 coaches+ 2 motorcycles, (forum member stump & DW but they'll probably come on an afternoon).....In addition to Dave M, maybe some "neighbors" in the next county over (ratbug, are you listening?) + Richard & Susan (LookingWest) + Tony Pasquale & friend, Gerri & Alan Ortiz, hopefully Hans & Marjet, (on the wait list for the park but live very nearby.) Have also invited Lyn & Mae W. (motorcade friends, he's treasurer for the FT south central chapter) from 1/2 hour away in Greer, so right now looks like a possible total 14-18. Hopefully everyone will check in here soon.
I'm planning to have everybody over to my place Thursday late afternoon/evening for sandwich/snack buffet, & was pondering a pizza party (depending on who all wants it) Friday, but open to suggestions like a "finger food" pot luck or ? Trying to keep it easy, the local Pizza Hut being the only place in town that brings you the food...they also have salads, pasta, & other items, see their web site for the Hendersonville delivery menu. Of course everyone brings their beverages of choice & chairs, I'll have everything else.
Anyway, we're definitley down to the time for a roll call. I have a family reunion off & on over the weekend, will be there from afternoon of 8/5 thru check out time 8/11 but staying in the neighborhood for an extra day. If anyone else is around, give us a holler. I will PM my cell number to all here.
Looking forward to seeing some of you guys again & meeting newbies! Jeff, don't forget the Allen wrench for my whacked mirror!
Alan & Gerri will be riding in on Rocinante on August 4 thru 9! Look forward to seeing you all.
...am bumping this up, see if anyone else is around....Hans & Marjet? Any luck with the waiting list???
Well... No calls yet on cancellations (Marjet is on the phone now ) but we are hoping since we cancelled our backup "days off" at South Cove.
Ill call you Monday/Tuesday. Jeff, gave me ur cell number also.
Hans
Just confirming: Richard & Susan will be here for the duration, Aug 5-7 as well as before and after.
The Friday potluck breakfast sounds fabulous. Thanks, Jeff & Sandy! Add us to the headcount. Ditto, Miz Dani — responding to your request for roll call, though you know we'll be here. ;-)
Also, don't know if this additional activity would be of interest to anyone? If not, no obligation/no worries! But for those who may be around Saturday morning Aug 8, Susan & I would be happy to "lead" a tour of the local food purveyors. We go out every Saturday a.m. and stock-up for the week. Last week's haul included freshly baked bread (Underground Baking Co. (http://undergroundbaking.com/#gallery)) — gouda/onion rye was great, along with amaretto brioche and Raleigh IPA rye. We usually go to UBC last, around 11–11:30, so we also can get a piece of their bread-crust Greek pizza or a "brezel" (bread pretzel with cheese) and bring it back to the FT for lunch.
Prior to that, we go to the Tailgate Market (held in a big parking lot with local farm vendors) for tomatoes, corn, potatoes, squash, fresh herbs, etc. We then go to the Curb market (a little more "formal" but only because it's local farmers inside a building instead of in a parking lot). There also is a good farm stand between Lakewood and downtown Hendersonville, where we often stop.
We'll have two SUVs (don't ask <smile>, but we can explain why when we see you). So we can provide transportation for some who aren't towing a vehicle.
Most of all, looking forward to seeing everyone and to meeting many (new to us) FT owners!
Richard, what a wonderful Saturday morning gastronomical delight of a "tour" that would make! You all are so great to offer....our little mini-rally is getting exciting here.....but of course, it ain't where ya go (OK sometimes it is) ...it's who ya go with! Traveling with other FT lovers makes the trip all worthwhile no matter what happens, but that little excursion sounds absolutely great....see ya soon! Hans & Marjet, please do come even without the coach! Or camp at Cracker Barrel....right across the highway....& do keep calling Lakewood, they do get last minute cancellations.
Hey Miz Dani,
Best wishes to everyone who comes to the un-rally in NC. We hope you have fun.
We are finishing up a totaly unscheduled, impromptu, three coach un-rally at our place in Hastings. And they are the best kind. What a wonderful time we have had with Amanda and Doug and Rudy and Carolyn. Lots of talk and laughter, good eats, sitting around the campfire roasting marshmallows making s'mores and helping each other with projects and ideas for more projects. Even though we are busy getting ready to hit the road ourselves there is always time for good friends and new friends.
If we are home the light is always on. We can easily fit 45' coaches. We have 2-50 amp and 2-30 amp connections. Give us a call and stop by.
Roger and Susan.
OK......We got a site #334 from Aug5-7 see all of you then.. :)
H&M
Hello everyone! We are excited to have booked 2 nights, I wanted to share that Hendersonville has a neat little wine bar tap house called the Poe House and right above it is probably the best little pizza place in the area called "West First" West First Wood-fired Pizza| Downtown | Hendersonville, NC (http://www.flatrockwoodfired.com/restaurant/index.html) We could pick up some pizza's there, they are all farm to table made in a stone oven. Hans and I really enjoyed the food. Or we could make a group reservation for dinner. What do you think?
...good news, Hans & Marjet, the wood fired pizza sounds great, Friday night? ...we'll see what everyone else thinks....I also heard from Tony P, arrives the 5th, staying thru the 9th....looks like it's a happening thing! ;D
Hi all just found this thread and i will be arriving hopefully 8/5 in afternoon can not wait to meet everyone. Sounds like this is shaping up to be a great non rally!
Tony
Yeh Roger, you're right....& impromptu's what we got, you & Susan's little get-together looked like so much fun.....we're hoping to cook up some fun too + there'll be a little bit of "boot camp" stuff goin' on for Jeff & Sandy.....(several of us are 'relative' newbies so this will be good for us all!) Only a week to go, wish you all could be here, happy trails westward, safe travels!
Hey Miz Dani:
Sounds like a lot of fun. We have been to Hendersonville in the past and really like the area.
We have commitments to meet up with family at the same time as your Un rally, so we won't make it.
Have fun and cya down the road.
Ted & Karen
Ted, would love to see you all again, hope you're having a blast with that grandbaby! Karen is one of the coolest/calmest I-45 drivers ever....Miz Cucumber! Have a great summer, see you guys out west...or maybe Grandvention?
We will be at the balloon fest in Albaquerque so no Grandvention. Plan on spending the winter out in the southwest- various places.
We are planning on meeting up with our Foretravel friends on the south side BLM @ Quartzite in January. Other than that, no plans yet, too far to think ahead............lol
Have fun and cya down the road.
Ted & Karen
Marjet & Hans,
Yes, West First does do WONDERFUL pizza. Maybe a couple of us make a run and become the "pizza delivery team" ourselves?
PS: Yes, Poe House is fun, too. A friend from many days past (when I was the Wine Director and sommelier for a restaurant group in South Carolina) is part of the team that runs Poe House — or did. Haven' t had a chance to get there this visit!
PPS: If anyone is looking for fine dining/artful cuisine in a lovely setting . . . tall windows, lots of light, comfortable decor . . . Postero on Main Street is super. Chef Jason buys from one of the organic farmers at the Tailgate Market we'll be visiting Saturday morning, if folks decide they want to do that tour. Happy to go to dinner at Postero with any early-comers or late-stayers (or, shhh! Keep it quiet but I've gotten take-out for Susan there). ;-)
Richard, it'll be so great to have local 'tour guides' (along with Hans & Marjet) who know all this wonderful food stuff! I second the motion for bringing the pizzas back to the park, Friday evening in downtown might be a bit crazy for parking & also dining in, no matter where we go. There'll be plenty of time for everybody to see downtown (it is so cute & chock full of terrific places to eat & things to see!) on their own...let's do the "stay at home" thing as much as possible for Thurs. & Fri. evenings....
(...can't beleive you were once a sommelier & I served you two Sangria!!! ....and ya'll were so gracious, like it was the finest wine on the planet!) :))
Pizza takeout Friday night sounds great!
For breakfast Friday morning we will have home made sausage, farm eggs, bagels and cream cheese for all. We've got paper plates, napkins and silverware covered. I don't think my coffee maker can keep up so folks might want to bring their own coffee.....and chairs?
Looking forward to meeting everyone.
Safe travels!
Jeff
Richard and Susan,
Hans and I will arrive Wednesday in the early pm and would love to go for dinner to Postero's, I don't believe anything has been planned for Wednesday, right? Let us know what works for you and maybe there are others who would like to join us?
Marjet
Alan and Gerri could be part of that We'd night Postero trip!
Nice to meet everyone today! I was so focused on getting set up, hope you don't think I was rude!
We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.
Jeff
I just wanted to post how grateful we are to have discovered Foretravel and especially this forum. I have never been involved in a group of people that so willingly offer their time, advice and expertise so unselfishly.
We've only met a few 4travelors today but all are awesome. I especially want to thank Tony. I've learned more about my coach today then I've learned since a bought it.
Thank you all.
I am enjoying the Un-Rally being able to meet some new Fortravelor's and visit this very beautiful area! Eight of us went into town Friday night for Pizza at West First Wood Fired pizza which we ate in the Restaurant and Wine Bar located in a floor below the pizza restaurant, btw excellent Pizza!
who is that slim fellow on the left ?
Report! Time for some posts/pictures from NC Un-Rally participants. We know there were several of you there. We are waiting!
Roger
I was thinking the same thing Roger. Could we get some names with those faces. :D
What a great time and definitely a place to come back too!! Made many new friends, Hans and I are ready to join the Motorcade Club! Thank you Miz Dani for organizing this great get together!!
(Jeffrey, Sandy, Dave, Hans, Susan, Richard, Gerri, Alan and Miz Dani)
Ok...on the left from front to back. Alan, Hans, Tony and Dave then from back to front Mis Dani, Sandy, Marjet and Gerri!! Hello!! From the Poe House!! this list of names is for the photo Toni Pasquale posted!
Thank you sfbmwwife! It's nice to put names with the faces. :o
Just got home as some on us (Sandy) had to work. We had a great time, thanks to all my new friends for coming.
Dani, thanks for organizing the Un Rally. I believe we must do it again next summer..
Jeff & Sandy sure deserve a shout out for that great breakfast, Sausage & scrambled eggs. Makes me want to sign up for next years Un-Rally NOW if Dani is taking info, suspect next year will have 3 times the Fofums, just a guess, was great. Sorry I needed to bug out Sat AM, missing Tony's Pasta.
Grand fun !
Thanks Dave, it was great meeting you and breakfast was out pleasure! Your coach is beautiful as were all of the others at the Un Rally. It was great being able to exchange ideas and see modifications that folks have done.
I learned so much.
After speaking to everyone we decided to add a third dump valve. We are also going to remove the barrel chair an put it in storage. We aren't using it and it will free up lots of room (Thanks Marget!)
I also want to remove the round dining table and replace it with a 'farm' style table with a couple of drawers underneath. A good friend of mine is a cabinet maker. He has some 100 year old walnut and black cherry that I'm going to convince him to sell to me so I can make a table. :D
Here I am, home for a few hours and all I want to do is get back on the road with my coach.
I'm heading out next on the 24th to have power cord and water hose reels installed....and perhaps a third dump valve.
Thanks again all. Hope to see you all again soon. All of you are welcome to visit us in Boone any time. With a few days notice we can arrange coach storage for you while you visit.
Yeh Dave, that might have been the best darned home made sausage ever, crispy & spicy on the outside, juicy on the inside, a pork lover's delight!.....Jeff & Sandy, such a wonderful treat! Yes, let's start that annual summertime H'ville traditional un-rally! ^.^d
Woww..what a great time and new group of friends...Richard, Suzan,Dani, Tony, Jeff, Sandy,Dave,Allen,Gerry ya'll awesome folks and of course my lovely DW Marjet she even extended our stay for a few days for more fun..
Seriously we need to do this yearly at this facility..great weather peaceful surroundings and great great times.
See you on the road
Hans & Marjet
A big shout out to Miz Dani for the great Thursday evening picnic, great sandwiches with all the trimmings, many thanks. Small group, large happiness, great Mini Un Rally indeed.
...only thing I'm a little bummed out about is I missed (due to the family scene going on down the street) Tony's world famous "Italian gravy" last night! Of course I hear there wasn't much left after everybody had "2nd's & 3rd's!" Tony, please, next summer??? And thanks too for all the fixin' up stuff you did ("it's so nice to have a man around the house, on occasion!) at my place....Hans too...I'm sure they'll see me comin' now and duck out of the way.....
I know Jeff was thrilled with everything he learned especially from Tony (and Hans and Dave M!) about his new coach. It was absolutely a top notch bunch, in a beautiful place, but the people (as always) made it the best. Thanks all, for making it such an awesome mini-un-rally!
Hi All, Sorry I did not add names for the pic I posted but I see Marjet filled in for me. Yes this was a wonderful un-rally in the Foretravel tradition of a lot of eating, good friends, after dinner camaraderie sprinkled with some tech talk and visiting of the downtown Hendersonville area! Thank you Dani, Jeff and Sandy for dinner and breakfast.
As always there was a physical issue but a very small one, the water pump on Allen & Geri's coach stopped working but an excellent diagnosis by Allen and a quick trip to Camping World, only 11 miles up the road and all was well again!
Again, Than you Dani for organizing this get together, I was so happy to have come and meet wonderful new members and friends to our Foretravel and ForeForums family. Also, glad I could help with some coach questions and glad to be of help regarding the main awning "Z" lock.
Tony
And also a BIG Thank You to Tony for the delicious Italian Gravy (his mother's family's ancient secret recipe) Tony that was sooooo good! Spaghetti with meatballs (Allen and Gerri's Sausages) and his Mama's gravy... Also thank you for the extra sauce, we will savor it for sure. Yes Miz Dani...sorry for you missing out on this meal. Great music, wine, fantastic meal and above all the company....
What a great time! Alan and I really enjoyed ourselves. Thanks for all the great eats, from Richard and Susan's great choice of restaurant, Dani's deli treats, Jeff and Sandy's home made pork to Tony's awesome Italian gravy. Now I have to break out the running shoes just to get back to my size.....never mind! Hope to see you down the road soon.
Gerri ;D
Did mean to leave out Majet's great salads. :yum:
I hate spell check....that should have said didn't mean to....
