Title: Dometic RM 3663 in 93 GV
Post by: spoiled122843 on July 31, 2015, 03:19:08 pm
As of late my fridge is staying on gas.  I try to manually set it to A/C but the system will only allow me to do DC or gas.  All of the fuses on the control board are fine and I have A/C at the plug.  I have found that a Micro P-711 is suppose to be a replacement for my board which is a 2932882.01.  I seem to remember in the past I have seen some comments that indicated people didn't have much luck with new boards.  I would like to replace it with a regular fridge, but finding something that will fit the 24 3/4 x 54 1/2 opening is also proving to be a challenge.

Check Dinosaur to see if they have a board for your fridge.  Everything they make is absolutely top quality!  We have their boards in both of our space heaters, and our water heater.  All of them function flawlessly.

Actually that was where I found the board.  Since it drained my propane tank because it refused to switch automatically, I need to wait to see if it will recover.

We have the same issue with size. A few years ago Whirlpool had a fridge that would (might) fit but that's no longer in production. Right now it's not an issue for us since we only use the coach for camping trips but in two years we'll be looking much harder at a house-type fridge. I don't want to cut into the woodwork or use up the cabinet below our fridge because I need it for my inverter and the solar charge controller. Right now the Dometic is just shut off. So far it's been working when we need it.

If you find a refrigerator that will fit, let us know. :)

I have heard many times that Dinosaur customer service is top-notch.  If there is any problem with one of their products, I bet they would try to make it right.  Have you tried calling them to see if they have any suggestions?

Before we replaced our Dometic with a residential fridge, we were having all kinds of problems, both on gas and AC operation.  I called Dinosaur and described what was happening, and they actually told me that one of their boards would not solve our problems.  First time I've ever had a vendor tell me NOT to buy their product.  I appreciated their honesty!

Bill, Did you check to see that the ac heating element is actually working ?

Read section on testing AC.  You may have a bad heating element.  Since it works on gas that is what I would suspect.

I'll check that.  My question is I can't get the A/C light to light on the front panel.  I would think the board would indicate a/c was selected even if the element was burned out.  In the past when we were at the lake, I would notice the system seemed to go back and forth between a/c and gas.  Usually it would finally settle on a/c and everything would be fine.

Fridge gets A/C from plug which you know has juice.  A/C is just switched to heat the element in the 'chimney'.  You could temporarily manually bypass the board and connect voltage to the heating element to cool.  Turn on & off as needed.  A relay on the board does the switching.

I had a Dometic RM3663 in my old coach. I replaced the original Dometic board with a Dinosaur P-711 and it worked great for many years. It was still working when I sold that coach.
Having said that, I would check the AC heating unit before I did anything.
