Title: Front dash fan fuse/relay location
Post by: Andrew & Julie on August 01, 2015, 12:50:35 pm
I am trying to diagnosis my front dash fan motor that is not working in a 96 U320.  The vent actuators are working but the fan is not turning at any setting.  I have gone through the schematics that I have, but have not been able to identify where the relay is or if there is another location for some fuses that I am missing. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Andy

No idea on the 96 model, but on my 2001, the same problem was accessed thru the lower center of dash removed the smart wheel box and the auto start bx, found a wire pulled  off a relay, FOT tech made look easy and quick, knew exactly where to go first, maybe 15 min max.

Andy,  I don't know if the dash fan has a fuse on it.

Have you checked the fan ground wire connection?  Mine was working intermittently and then then stopped working altogether.  The dash fan on my 93 U300 is located on the passenger side under the dash.  To get to the ground wire I had to remove the carpeted panel under the dash where the access was easy.  The screw that connected the ground to the fan was corroded and needed cleaning.  I could jiggle the wire and it would come on.  A new screw and cleaning off the corrosion did the trick!  I'm not sure where yours is located or how hard to get to but it's a simple fix and mine has worked well ever since.  Hope this helps.
