TM-8 Battery DocĀ® Top Mount Battery Disconnect Switch | Fastenal (http://www.fastenal.com/products/details/5127392?r=~|categoryl1:%22609389%20Fleet%209and%20Automotive%22|~%20~|categoryl2:%22605073%20Batteries%209and%20Accessories%22|~%20~|categoryl3:%22610049%20Quick%20Disconnects%22|~%20~|sattr01:^%22Knife-Blade%20Switch%22$|~)

Previous owner installed these top mounted on neg. term. both house & chassis batteries for unwanted battery drain while in storage.

I have operated the coach for the past 4 years with no problems but just looking for some opinions. I do take an emery cloth and keep contact area clean every once in awhile. I do like the idea of being able to disconnect the batteries for safety reasons in short time.

Rated 250 amp continuous and 750 amps surge at 12 volts.

Doug:

You mentioned these are on both house and chassis batteries. My personal opinion is this is a no-no. It looks like you have the Cummins C8.3. Starting a large diesel can draw a huge amount of current especially when cold, 1000 amps is not out of the question. Any voltage drop isn't going to help on a cold morning.

If I am storing my coach for an extended time I loosen and remove the negative battery clamps - a little more work, but I am sure I'm getting full battery voltage when needed.

Yes Peter I agree with your statement.
Have run generator with boost and block heater on in low teens...
