The old NMO mount for a cell antenna is on the roof of our new to us coach, but I can't find where it ends up inside. Would like to just replace the antenna on the mount with a newer multi band....but where is the cable & connector inside?
Cable from roof base runs forward and to left, and looks like it goes down beside square vertical aluminum support left front corner. It actually looks like two RF cables there, I'm guessing one is the CB cable. Found where cable terminates at the CB under the hinge-up console. So many wires & lines under there, many about the right size and colour, that I haven't spotted the cell antenna cable yet, if it is still there. Went two owners back, far as I know how to go, neither used the cell antenna, & don't know where it was.
Any ideas to narrow my search? Don't want to disturb any wiring if I can avoid it.
Thanks,
Jack
In my 1996 U320, the cell antenna cable terminates under the hinged part in the center of the dash - the piece with the cup holders.
Thanks Wyatt,
Pretty sure I never heard that the panel hinged up (got a lot of info from Brett Wolfe & previous owner in a very short span of time).
Found a loose piece of RG-58 with a BNC connector on it in there, will confirm with tracer &/or continuity test, but that has gotta be it. The cable is likely 18 years old, but has never been exposed to the elements, so will be deteriorated some, but likely better (or hopefully no worse) than the lossy RG174 that runs to the current window stick-on antenna. Add the omni-directional factor, height & antenna gain and things should be MUCH better.
One more thing from a long list getting much closer to getting done.
Thanks again,
Jack
