Dee and I are in Canada and we will be at Bar Harbor Me.in about 10 days. We will start on a trip to Elkhart at that time and then on to the Grandvention. I am trying to find the best route for traveling to this locale. Time will be important but previous travels in the northern routes have left me concerned about tolls and very bumpy interstates. Does anyone have any good ideas? Looking to see you at the Grandvention. Jim Busby 15015
This past Feb. the NY Thruway was bumpy in parts. Tolls are very high. And that was with the transponder which is good in every state x-FL. You can get one at certain CVS or Walgreens or online. There is no faster route to RV Mecca.
We came down from northern Maine this July. I'd go I-95, cut around Boston on the outer loop to I-90, then down I-88, I-86 to I-90. You can then skip some tolls and take I-71 to OH-224 to Indiana. This avoids most of the expensive NY tolls. The MA tolls were reasonable. The tolls in Maine were also about $20 if you take I-95 north of Portland.

We went both ways this year on our way to Newfoundland and didn't have any problems. It has gotten much better--it used to be very bad. And traffic is not bad.

We are at the end of our stay in Illinois/wisconsin. I have had ENOUGH od tolls (unreal) and road construction. I will be SO thankful to get back west of the Mississippi!!!
