I would suggest that the 300,000 miles, NOT 3 years is used to determine when to add the extender. In other words, in most RV applications, you add NOTHING. Went through this with the Caterpillar engineers and Caterpillar ELC. What we found was that in RV applications, adding the extender "over-dosed" the coolant.

Brett thanks for the info on the extender.
I'm at the 3 year mark and was just shopping for the extender...5 minutes too late just purchased it on eBay.
Is this as good a coolant or perhaps better? than the Peak Final Charge Global?
The Peak is about $27.50 at NAPA.
Seems to be a deal if you buy it by the case.
meets performance requirements from most diesel manufacturers.

The beamalarm.com site (thank you, Barry!) says that my cooling system should be cleaned, flushed, and refilled every two years.
It also says that my engine cooling system holds 15 gallons. Does that mean that I need 2 1/2 cases of this Zerex antifreeze? Or is some of that 15 gallons distilled water?
Thanks for any insights or further explanation any of you can provide.
Trent
This ad states that it is the concentrate, so you would need 7.5 gal for a 50/50 mix. then fill with distilled water.
Search this forum, a lot of info on coolant changes.
