Title: Windshield Wipers 1997 U295
Post by: turbojack on September 30, 2015, 04:39:35 pm
My wiper blades have dry rotted.  I went to O'reilly and went thru all they had there and could not find any that matched. Did a search here and found someone said the Trico HD's 26 were the ones. O'reilly says that is now the Trico 26-1  Looked at those and they do not match up.  Looked at Beam alarm site and they did not have a listing for this model year.

Anyone have an idea what will work with out have to go and modify to make work?

Trico 26" HD blades and the metal parts are on my 97 now.

No idea what if any difference 26-1's are.

Someone had changed mine to 24's car stuff

We have tried to find replacement arm & blades and nothing fits just right, so this is our tried & true way of putting new wiper blades on our coach: Our blades have a strip of window wiping rubber that slips between the 'fingers' of the metal wiper blade and is held in place with two long narrow flat'ish metal spring-steel slats, one on each side of the rubber.
We use long nose plyers and pull out the existing metal slats, silicone lube spray may help release them from the grip of the rubber.  Replace rubber only and push & pull back the original metal slats to 'lock' the rubber in place.
Our last rubber was from a same length $9 Walmart wiper blade.  We use the rubber and throw away the rest, including the new metal slats as sometimes they are a bit wider.

That's it for mine.  Bought a spare set of blades.

Works well

I purchased mine a couple of years ago from Napa.  They were heavy duty.  Much more expensive then the standard auto variety.  And they bolted right on.

Watch out for the ones at Camping World. I bought two in individual packages with the same number and one had a too small hole. Too far away to return so drilled it out (not easy) and e-mailed a complaint. They said to return it and they woul replace. By then I'd corrected the problem and there was no mention of their correction of the package problem. :))

If you do a search on wiper arms I posted a source and a follow up installation on my 91 GV so I can use regular clip on blades. The quality if the new arms is better than what was on it to start with. They have about any style arm available.
