Title: Ramco Top Hat Mirror Reattachment
Post by: TulsaTrent on October 02, 2015, 01:49:37 am
Several interesting things happened on our last trip. This message is about the Ramco driver mirror incident.

I was driving along, minding my own business, and all of a sudden, the top hat mirror on the driver side started vibrating , strongly. I pulled over and checked the mirror. The mirror surface came off in my hands  --  in one piece!

It appeared to have been fastened with some kind of flexible adhesive. I know there had been some discussion a while back about the lower convex mirror being fastened with velcro, but this was definitely not that.

I will try to call Ramco to see what they recommend. In the meantime, anyone have suggestions or ideas about what would be good to use to reattach it? Better yet, anyone been there and done that?

Thanks,

Trent

Mine fell off in storage, I found it laying on the ground.
I re-attached it with silicone adhesive and taped it on till it cured.
So far so good.

After a thorouh cleaning, I reattached a lower convex mirror with GE RTV silicone about 5 years ago. No problem since.

Ramco told me to use black RTV silicone to adhere the new mirror I got from them.

I reinstalled a convex mirror with 3M automotive attachment tape 1/2inch by .045 inch, two sided, black, part number "06382", available from eBay.
