I have a 2007 Nimbus that has been plagued with loosing the air conditioning charge. This air conditioner provides cool air around the dashboard area. It has been to Foretravel plant many times and each time it was diagnosed as a leaking fitting. Since no fittings where ever changed, I suspect the o-ring was changed only on the fitting and within a few weeks, the charge was gone and had hot air only. There is lots of corrosion on the air compressor and fittings near the compressor.
I am considering of pulling out the entire system and begin new. New A/C compressor, new fittings, and check the evaporator and condenser. I do not think hoses are a problem.
I have never used MOT but have heard great reviews about them. I am thinking that MOT could handle this matter. Should I consider having MOT handle the A/C repair or should I take this to another place who specializes in air conditioners? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am not returning to Foretravel plant since after eight years they have not been able to resolve the problem.
I want to resolve this matter and enjoy the cool air since we travel in the southwest. Any assistance anyone can provide is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Bob
I would find a ac repair shop with a good electronic leak detector and have them actually find/pinpoint the leak and make a
decision from there.
Is that a picture of the air comp or the ac compressor?
Maybe the other repair shop found the most obvious leak and missed some other leaks.
There is also a dye that can be put into the system and checked with a uv light to find the leak.
I had MOT repair mine, they pressured the system with nitrogen to find leak,it was a crimped on fitting.
Thanks John for your reply. The picture is the back of the A/C compressor. We have leaked tested with the dye many, many times. I just found a company where I was able to order the new A/C compressor and receiver dryer. When I called Foretravel for a price for the A/C compressor, I was quoted $550. Well, the new unit coast me $229 only. Same exact unit and also brand new. When I pulled the receiver dryer off, the hoses where cracked badly. I think I am on the right path now, thanks

Thanks Chuck. Glad to hear that MOT had the tools on hand to do crimping. That is exactly what I wanted to hear. I am surely comfortable allowing them to fix the system and know the job will be resolved once and for all. Thanks
