Title: HWH air bag leveling
Post by: prevostart on January 10, 2016, 10:49:43 am
We are getting ready to retire and start using the motor home and one of my projects is HWH leveling system has been intermittent on working, you hit level once for manual or twice for auto and light light up and it does not do anything, I pulled out control box and control pad to send to HWH, Is this the way to deal with this? Is there a upgrade kit for this system, To modernize it, the circuit boards look old school.
The unit HWH model AP9488  SN 761 ,  I can see the control box was sent in for something in 2002 it has tape on wires and RGA number.  Any one have any ideas ?

Art, there are some threads concerning the HWH level system in the tech forum. Much had to do with cleaning contacts. After that having boards rebuilt, etc.
You can use the search function and find quite a bit.
Good luck.

The HWH control box failed on our 99' U270. I went through the diagnostics using the manual and the bottom line was that the control box was bad. In our case, the leveling worked but the travel mode wouldn't come on and we made a few trips where I had to put it at the ride height manually. I contacted HWH and got a call back after a few days. I went through the diagnostics with the tech support (Frank was his name), and we concluded that the control box was indeed bad. Frank gave me the option of sending it in to be repaired or they would build me a new one for the cost of the worst case scenario repair of the old one. I decided on that option because the original board looked almost like a prototype with jumper wires and patch cables. The cost ended up being just under $1000. The repairs of the old one might have been a lot cheaper, but the new box had more finished looking build quality and gives me a new warranty and peace of mind.

Two or three years ago, I sent our HWH control box and key pad to HWH for repair. I think the cost was $68 plus nominal shipping costs. Turnaround was less than two weeks. The problem was a "subtle" (not obvious to the untrained eye) broken wire. The repair included a new face for the key pad.

I went through the diagnostics using the manual
Those diagnostics are easy to follow and execute. After running them, like JD, I sent in my box and they repaired it at a very reasonable cost. Good luck.
