Title: Houston RV show
Post by: kb0zke on January 16, 2016, 07:50:55 pm
Anyone planning on going to the Houston RV show in February? We're going to be there either Saturday or Sunday. If it isn't too hot I'll have my Motorcade jacket on.

I hadn't planned on it, but if there are some forum members going I'll try to make it just to meet some fine folks.  And, to remind myself how good our coach is compared to some of the new stuff.

I haven't been for several years but would be high on priority if there were several members going.

Show is 10-14 February. We're going to be there, probably Saturday, but maybe Sunday. Some of the other Laborers here in Tomball are also interested in going, so we'll probably try to go together. As soon as we have a firm date I'll let the forum know.

Here's the link to the show:  Houston RV Show at NRG Center - Houston, Texas - Layout (http://www.houstonrvshow.com/) Notice that you can print to get a BOGO, so the actual cost for two people is $12.00.

Ok, the show is coming up pretty quickly. Anyone going to be there on Saturday? Will Foretravel have a presence there? If so, maybe we could all meet there at a set time.

I had hoped to go just to meet a few Foretravelers. However, it looks like we may be traveling to OK for a family gathering. If an ad hoc mini-rally breaks out in the region around Houston, I would enjoy participating.

I have to be non-committal right now unfortunately - too many irons in the fire.  I will continue to monitor this post, however, for dates and times - just in case we can break free and get there to meet whoever may be attending.

And btw - do we need some sort of identifying marks or something so we can recognize each other??  Print some Foreforums nametags maybe?

Hello,
I think I can go Saturday. Is this something we would take the FT?  Not sure if that would help identify one or not.  I don't have one of those FT brown jackets.  Sounds like should be fun.
Best of travels.

Jo Ann and I have white/maroon Foretravel jackets, so we will probably be wearing them. We also have our Motorcade name tags, so we'll have them clipped on, too.

Hey Brett, you mean there might be other old bald fat guys there!!!  :))  b^.^d

I'm not sure about RV parking. Haven't noticed in the past. Might check shows website posted earlier in this thread.

I'll have a tan Foretravel ball cap on my head.

But Bill - If you wear your FT cap no one will be able to see your NOT bald head.  ;D

Bill -

You can call yourself Old, You can call yourself Fat but, my friend, you can NOT call yourself bald - yet.

Soooooo - At the RV show you will be Old and Fat with your beige FT hat.  ^.^d

Guess that leaves me to be the old, short, fat, bald, bearded, bespectacled one.

Welp, we're out for Saturday so won't have the pleasure of seeing you folks.  Attending a funeral for a close friend in Texas City, unfortunately.

Someone asked about RV parking: in years past when I've gone, I remember seeing RVs in the parking lot.  It's a HUGE parking area at NRG Stadium, so I'm sure that you'd be ok driving your coach in there.  Hope you all can meet up and commiserate a little bit.

Chris

It is the season, -10° Saturday morning just in time for the Minneapolis St Paul RV and Camping Show. Mid 30's by Monday.  It is always a big draw. We are thinking about going. Fun to see what is new, get ideas.  We never see anything as nice as out FT.

You got that right, Roger. Our 27 yr old coach is still better than a lot of those we see at shows.
Our coach makes me proud when I open a drawer in SOB's top of the line coach and see particle board faced with a very thin wood veneer or the nitestand next to the bed already a "little loose"

We went to the Houston RV show with Bill today. I don't think we ran into any other Foretravelers, but Bill may correct me on that. There were lots of coaches of all different sizes and prices, but I didn't see anything that looked like a Foretravel. The only "new" coach I saw was the new 5'er from Tiffin. It was sitting next to a Mobile Suites, and there was an obvious difference in quality.

We looked at a couple of motor homes, including a Tiffin, and, franky, I wasn't impressed. They either looked cheesy to me or to glitzy. The Tiffin at least was all light colors, but getting to the engine on all of them will be only for the skinny and agile.

Didn't meet up with any other Foretravelers but did meet a previous neighbor from Rayford Crossing.  Really enjoyed spending the day with David and JoAnn (Mr & Mrs kb0zke) and looking at all the new RV's.  Lots of young family's there and RV's to accommodate them.

I went to RV show in Houston today.  Didn't see anyone or recognize them if they were there whilst I was there.  I wandered through several motorhomes and frankly was not overly impressed.  I saw some I liked but certainly liked mine and didn't feel the urge to do anything rash.
I did see something that I liked though and though I don't need it at present with my domestic, I thought it might be of interest to some who have the double door 120v refers.  It is a metal latch that attaches to the door with screws (or 3M tape?) that prevents opening underway.  It looks like it would be nice.  I came home and looked up a link and it is available on Amazon.

Best of travels

Sorry we missed you.

I should have mentioned that there were quite a few families there. I paid particular attention to the teens, and every one of them seemed to be interested and engaged in the looking. None of them looked like they were bored. That bodes well for the industry.

I put those on my Maytag 4 years ago they are great and look good.  I did use the stainless screws that came with it.  They only go through the thin door skin nothing vital.
