Title: Which weight Delo 400 oil for my '93 GV DD?
Post by: Jeff & Sandy on January 18, 2016, 10:18:19 pm
I'm almost out and need to order some. I'm heading south later this week  but it's really cold here if that matters. I do have a jug in the coach but I'm at home and the coach is in storage.

I did see a few posts that I should be using Delo 100 straight 40wt. with my 2 cycle engine. The oil that came with the coach is definitely Delo 400. MOT did the oil change so I will call them in the morning to see what they used.

If 400 was used can I add 100 if I need oil?

Thanks as always.

Jeff

Thanks as always Stump, I appreciate it.

If I'm adding oil does it matter what's in there already? OK to add 100 if it has 400 already? I assume MOT used 100 but I'll call to verify tomorrow.

Jeff the Delo comes 3 gal to a case I'd order 3 cases also crawl under and get the number off oil filter too that way you have a full change and a few gallons spare to carry with you. If I was going to be extensive traveling I'd also carry another filter and enough oil for an on the road change. O'REILLY Can supply your oil filter too they also supply large heavy truck parts.I wouldn't mix and if I had any doubt I'd change it myself and then I'd know for sure.
You order it this morning heck they might have it this afternoon,I bought 2 cases last week and they came out if Greensboro, NC warehouse.
Worst comes to Worst when you head out jump off I77 at Lake Norman swing by my house and borrow the 2 cases I have and the filter and find a shop to drop your oil and spin on the new filter

Less than $100 buys you 7 gallons of Delo 100 #40 and filter. You put 5.5 gallons in and have the rest to add between 10K/one year oil changes.

Oil Filter: NAPA-1970 FLEETGUARD-LF3333 WIX-51970

Buy Delo at Chevron distributors or auto parts stores. They deliver the Delo to the house when they fill our heating oil tank.

Before you even consider Delo 400, look at the accelerated wear photos Chevron has on their site.

Other #40 good low ash oils are available  including Citgo's are found at: Google (http://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=detroit%20diesel%20low%20ash%20oil). Use Shell Rotella in a pinch as it is just on the line for maximum ash allowed for our 2 cycles.

NEVER use a multigrade oil.
