Title: Audit monitor removal from dash in a '91 GrandVilla
Post by: John Cooper on February 18, 2016, 06:12:18 pm
I've attached a picture showing the six screw locations that need to be removed to get the monitor out.  The bottom two in the front are a bit of a problem to get to.  If you remove the two screws holding the heatsink/power supply to the monitor cover you can then slide it off toward the front of the coach and it will make it easier to get to the bottom screws.

The other thing I had to do was remove the screw that clamps the heater valve cable in place to give me room to get it up out of the dash.

@John,

Nice work. Those can be a beast to get out. I heard they used those same monitors in some jet fighters.

I haven't yet.  Went out to the coach today to see if I could use the TV to see the condition of the backup camera only to discover that the TV that came with the coach when it was built only has antenna inputs, no RCA  jack or other video input so I am now not only in the market for a monitor but two TVs also!  One thought, a TV that has a built-in switch between the various inputs like my Sony 42 inch home system that has 4 HDMI ports, a VGA port, etc.  I'm going to start a new topic on this subject.

Someone from this forum will probably contact you to offer their old CRT monitor which they replaced with an LCD. That's how I got my current monitor a few years ago and it's still working great. I only use it when I'm driving so it should last many more years.
