Title: Replacing the windshield washer tank on my '91 Grand Villa
Post by: John Cooper on February 20, 2016, 10:31:42 pm
I had noticed a bunch of green corrosion on the relay next to the windshield washer tank so I reached for the connector to pull it off to clean it and my thumb went through the tank!  Now I know why I saw the green crud.

Searching the posts to see what was available I found someone who had purchased a replacement tank at an autoparts place that worked but required modification to be usable.  Googling windshield washer got me the ACI tank kit number 99300 from Amazon for $24.35.

The old tank has a wedge-shaped metal bracket that holds it in place.  I had a hard time getting the old tank off the bracket.  You can reuse the screw holes for the new bracket as is but I put an 1/4" thick aluminum bar in so that the wiring behind the tank would not rub.  If you do make a stand off you should use longer screws.  The connector was the same.  I then cut a short piece of tubing off from the kit and used one of the connectors in the kit.

Thanks!  Excellent update/mod/repair.  Clean, efficient, inexpensive - the kind we should all appreciate.  ^.^d

My local NAPA store ordered an almost exact replacement for the washer tank. It's on the NAPA website and as I recall it was the only complete kit. It fit the existing screw holes, wiring connector, and everything.
