Have a Leece Nevillle 130amp 2670JB,has the large pos and neg wires, one sensing red wire from the right side of voltage reg,
and has a black wire coming fron inside regulator to small left terminal of regulator.the bearings are starting to get noisey.
I found a us made direct replacement,($240).I gave them my part number and they said I have a internally excited alternator.
I want to make sure thats what I have.no where on my old one it says duvav but it looks like it is the original.
Will be taking it to a local shop for a estimate on rebuild but thinking I may be better off getting the one for $240.
You might want to call the Leece Neville technical dept. for advice on the exchange. I believe I would do the rebuild if all it is is bearings.
John,
If you aren't a DIY kind of person then find a good old time alternator shop and have it cleaned up and freshened up. You know that your alternator isn't burnt up or pieced together. As a guideline the parts (bearings, voltage regulator, brushes) for your alternator are about $75 to $100 the rest will be labor. If the rotor and stator are good (they are the expensive parts) you should be able to get it rebuilt for less than the $240 exchange.
There is no where on your alternator that will say "DUVAC" so if the shop doesn't know what you are talking about when you ask them if they will work on a DUVAC alternator then go on down the road. And yes that is the type system your coach should have came with.

Might take a look at this. It's worked flawlessly for years. You can easily convert your internally excited alternator to DUVAC operation.
Hi again Chuck,
OK, please put me down for two kits.

After you get'r fixed, replace the 3 cables that run the juice (to the battery, ground & engine.)
Or give them a good cleaning if the corrosion has not taken them past the point of no return.. pc
