Has anyone had a fuel solenoid failure on a Cummins ISM 450 in a 2000 U-320? I apparently have had one as we had voltage an a healthy spark at the feed wire, and the old one would not bench test. The Rocky Mountain Cummins dealer in El Paso had one in stock, and one of their people said failures are not common, but do happen. I'll post updated results this weekend after installation, including the Cummins part number.
Cummins part number for the solenoid is 4024808 and the "spring type washer" that goes with it is 129768. I do not know which engines that part fits other than mine. We were able to start the engine and shut it down after installing the new solenoid. If you disassemble yours, make sure you pay careful attention to the order of the parts as you remove it as there are several pieces that will come out when you remove the four bolts and the solenoid. Reassembly in the correct order is essential. Remember, not only does this solenoid allow fuel to go to the engine, this is the device that turns off the fuel which shuts the engine down when you turn off the key.
I think I might add that to my spares. Please post the part number when you can
