Good Morning!
We are boondocking this weekend and when I switch from generator power to inverter power we loose power to the satellite receiver momentarily........then have to go through the setup procedure which takes 5ish minutes. Same happens when going from inverter to generator.
Is there a way to avoid this?
Thanks in advance!
That was happening to me at the Q this past January, I just turned on the inverter waited a couple minutes and shut Down the generator and bingo it saved the tv.
My Foretravel manual states that I should turn off ALL things that use power whenever starting or stopping the generator and leave off until the generator is up to full power supply. Wouldn't switching to the inverter constitute a change in electrical power that could potentially damage electrical equipment when the power drops below specified parameters? Like +/- 10%?
Kevin - so that you get answers accurate to your coach: which inverter do you have?

Thanks for the quick replies. I have a Xantrax Prosine 3.0. Normally I will start the generator when the inverter is on......it will switch from Invert to Standby and the charger will switch from Standby to Charge.
Everything is working great, would just like to avoid having to go through the start up procedure with the satellite every time.
Thanks.
Hi Kevin,
Yes, to eliminate the satellite reboot, install a dedicated inverter to run the electronics.

Agree with Jim. I have a small go power 300 watt psw inverter that just runs my tv, satellite, and sound system. Leave it on all the time, only draws about 5 watts unloaded.
I leave my inverter on all the time unless I'm boondocking for many days. I rarely have to re-boot my DirecTV receiver.
I have the same issue and I put a backup power supple battery in the compartment too. Small but it means no reset each time.
