Title: Belts
Post by: bbeane on March 22, 2016, 10:49:21 pm
I know this has been posted before but.
Had to replace a belt beside the road this morning, fun at 7:00 wind blowing about 40 mph north of Dallas. Barry's site says gates 80680, I had a Goodyear 4080686 which is longer still had to help it on. Anyone know the right one for a 1999 ISC 350 w/p alt?

Sorry no help with the belt but some sympathy with the wind. We are on the east side of Dallas and it's been blowing since we got here last Saturday. I've been holed up in the coach and have plenty to do outside. :)

see ya

Problem: You are in the wrong state.  TEXAS + SPRING = WIND

Bruce, just wait til you get further west!  >:D  ....Chuck knows...+ I spent years in west TX (Post, Lubbock, Midland) & it gets even more exciting! So best to fasten your seat belts along with all those other belts! ....and travel safe!!!

Check carefully before heading west, I-40 can be very nasty in windy conditions.

Williams is a great place, really enjoyed our stay. We fought winds across New Mexico, had the wheel turned a quarter turn to the left all the way. Should have had left turn signal on because if wind let up, I changed lanes. 😄 Be safe.

Yup, and eastbound, you just reverse the procedure! It's still blowing good down here near the Mexican border, and the "breeze" is heading for I-10!

Made it to Williams wind let up a bit in Arizona, all is good. Anyone know what the correct belt numbers are for a 1999 ISC 350

Bruce,

A VERY good website for weather, including wind direction and speed by day parts:

NOAA Graphical Forecast for Southern Rockies (http://graphical.weather.gov/sectors/southrockies.php#tabs)

Click on Wind direction and speed for the time period of interest.

Bruce.
The belts listed on Barry's site are the ones I use on mine. They should fit yours.

Maz don't know what's up but the 80680 won't go on. I currently have Good year 4080685 on it,it has to be coaxed on. Going to investigate more in the am.

I am receiving a Gates K080680 on Friday and now I read it won't fit even though it is listed in beamalarm as proper belt for h2O/alternator. GRRR

2 tips on belts, take the old belt off and look on the outside of the belt for the part number. If you think it is too tight or loose
take it off and take it to a auto parts store, they will have a device to measure the belt.Watch the belt tensioner video,if yours
is worn, replace it with the gates.Once you have the right belts go get another set for spares your gunna use them at some
point anyway. If the store has a good, better, and best belt selection, spend a couple of bucks more and get the best belt.

Check the chart here:

or
 http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=4&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwjqzOmondnLAhVF1h4KHeAIA10QFggrMAM&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gates.com%2Foreilly%2FPDFs%2FSizeListings.pdf&usg=AFQjCNFcIO2bk0szIyLBEjfcXAKfNqFWjw

the 80680 is 1/2' shorter than the 80685, go up to a 80690 its 1/2 inch longer....

I think you meant 680. It works on mine. One of them was a little tight going on from what I remember but after it stretches with use I am sure it is fine.
