Title: Allison Touch Pad connector
Post by: FourTravelers on March 23, 2016, 08:45:12 am
While replacing all the indicating lamps in the 9 rocker switches, I noticed an orange jumper wire on the connector on the back of the Allison touch pad that appeared to be cut. It jumps from one pin to another and is only about 1-1/2 " long. It didnt occur to me to take a pic of it before replacing the console.   Everything works as it should so I am assuming it was cut by FOT for some reason?
Anyone else noticed this wire before?

Mine has the exact same cut wire.  I believe there was a thread on the Forum about it?  Anyway, it doesn't hurt anything, so I left it alone.

Edit: Found it! (scroll down the page a little ways)

Awesome! My search came up empty, not the right key words I guess, feel better about it now.
Going to finish the joystick installation now and move on to the next "project"  :)

Thanks for the quick reply

I tried the link again that was posted by Stump but couldn't get it to work.
Supposedly the wire is to be cut if using the remote keypad as the primary shifter.
Would have been nice if FOT had capped or insulated the wire so it would be obvious that it was to be disconnected.

BTW.  How does one remove that switch panel?

I'll upload some photos tomorrow, on mine there are 8 or 10 small phillips head screws holding the panel to the console. I did remove a short section of trim rail below the side window to make removal a little easier. The touch pad clips into the same one piece panel that the rocker switches snap into.
hope this makes sense...... photos would help.
