Title: Wiring diagram for 1987 Grandvilla Dash.
Post by: jquentin on March 23, 2016, 01:10:17 pm
Does anyone have the  12 volt Electrical diagram for the dash of a 1987 Grandvilla ORED.

We are having issue with the headlight switch and need to know the relay designation under the dash for
Relays 50 thru 56

Hi, my 88 flickered on bumps or nothing at all.
I don't remember relays for the headlight, just replaced the GM switch from autozone... worked for the next 5-+ years till I sold it.

Have been through all the books I have that cover 87 to 89 GV's, not one of them shows or talks about the relays on the left side of the flip up dash.  This is real interesting since Oshkosh and Foretravel show everything else, I wonder if there was a print ever made?

@jquentin

Welcome to the Forum!  Since you have a older model coach, you will find it a bit more difficult to dredge up information.  Nothing against your older Foretravel - it's simply a matter of fewer owners out there qualified to respond to your queries.  Also, factory paperwork tends to get "lost" as the years go by, so the older the coach the more likely factory manuals might be missing some info.

I can't directly answer your question about the relays.  I have noticed that Foretravel is sometimes consistent in the way it wired coaches.  This may or may not be true in this case.  I will list the designation of the relays under my dash (left side).  You may find yours are the same...or not.  Or, you could always try identifying them by process of elimination - disable one relay, then look around and see what doesn't work.

Anyway, for what it's worth, here's my list:

Relay #50:  left docking light
Relay #51:  right docking light
Relay #52:  clearance lights
Relay #53:  unused relay
Relay #54:  aux lights (fog lights)
Relay #55:  horns

There is also another relay in the same vicinity that is un-numbered on my wiring diagram - it controls the ICC light function (blinks your marker lights to signal passing truckers).

Good luck with your wiring problem!

Or, with an assistant, pinch a relay between your fingers, have assistant switch every switch, you'll feel the relay click with the associated switch.

I have 1990 villa, but I do know that one of those relays is for the horn, there are about 5 or 6 others, il have a look through my schematics tommorrow, and see if I can find anything
