Title: Hot Water Pressure
Post by: Genie915 on March 29, 2016, 04:50:48 pm
I have four times as much water pressure on the Cold side as I have on the Hot side. Is this normal our is something clogged. This is at both sinks, on outside drains both sides of Coach, outside faucet. The kitchen sink is the worst, I thought it was a clogged aerator, replaced entire faucet head, still no pressure. Anyone have experience with this problem? Thanks for any advice.

Duh. Did a search, now where is the mixing valve located?

mixing valve only affects temperature not pressure. It is located on the outlet line of the Aqua Hot. Usually hard to reach. Do an Aqua Hot search both on the forum and Google and you will learn about it

We had a similar problem once and we had to turn the water fill valve on under the bathroom sink.

It sounds like you might have to do some de-scaling on your unit , which is not a big deal really , i have a tankless system in my house and every 2 to 3 years we have to do this procedure, It's the same as you would do to your water heater in a trailer .You flush it after each year , Here is what you do . On your aqua heater you have cold in and hot out ,remove those connections and hook up garden hose connections to both , get a 5 gallon bucket , a submersible pump , and 5 gallons of food grade vinegar { costco } the cheapest Hook up pump to the cold side , hook up a return line from hot, back in the bucket , And start flushing about 1 hour should be good
This will take out all the sentiment buildup from your coil in the aqua heater. Hope this will fix your problem. Rob.

Rob,
My idea was to load the fresh water coil with vinegar and let it sit for a while.
Now here you come with a much more elegant approach which is to circulate the vinegar. Kudos to you. I like that a bunch.

HM-M-M? Wonder if that process would help to eliminate the cloudy hot water coming out of our 27 year old propane water heater in our coach? Pressure is OK, just the cloudy water. Just looking for ideas of things to do on our coach while waiting for spring camping season. The yard is too wet, soggy, or frozen to work on. The garden is still mud. The weather is too cold and rainy to do any painting. Weather is too unpredictable to put a new roof on our shed. SO, It is down to little puttering things. Took the rear stone guard off, pounded all the dents out of the Foretravel stainless logo on the flap, and now belt sanding it to get some semblance of one finish only back, instead of all the skid marks and dents.

Thanks Redwing X2 what Rudy said.

re NiteHawk's propane heater:
We remove the drain and flush out the tank about 3 times a year to get rid of white pieces and cloudy water. We use lots of water and a end of hose wand made for flushing. Also used a bent copper pipe to siphon the bottom water after flushing.
In the distance past we have filled the hot water heater with vinegar. You may want to consider proactively replacing your propane tank while you have time, as it is no fun to have it give you problems while using the coach.

A broken propane tank? Not something I have ever encountered. What caused it to break?

I did not have enough space to undo the hot and cold connections at the aqua hot. The lines had a tee in them to coach and to drain. I hooked to cold water drain and placed a bowl under hot water drain and that is how in flushed my Aqua hot with Vinegar. I now have good flow on hot side.

How did you attach the hose to the pex tubing? My tubing only sticks down about 1/2".
Thanks
Bob

I just did a much more low tech approach.
1. Drained the fresh water tank 2. Took off the over-flow tube from the fresh water tank 3. Used a tube and funnel to pour in 12 gallons of vinegar from Sam's Club 4. Turned on the pump and Aqua-Hot 5. Removed the screens from the sink and shower fixtures 6. Every 20 minutes or so, ran 1 gallon out into a bucket into a bucket from the tub spout (no filter there) 7. Flushed out the remaining vinegar 8. Re-attached the fresh water overflow tube 9. Replaced the faucet screens
Overall, the results were very good. I poured the water into a bucket so I could monitor the progress. There was a steady yet small amount of minerals coming out of the faucet. Towards the end, the water turned a deep green color and really smelled gross. It improved the hot water flow by 50%. I will be doing it again here shortly hoping for further improvement.
Cost: Less than 1 hour of labor at the shop!
Results: Stronger hot shower, Happy wife, Happy life!

What tub spout? At the water fill area?

I have the U320 with tub/shower (not just the shower stall).
I put the vinegar in the fresh tank through the overflow hole. I took off the existing tube and put in my own 4' tube with a funnel on the end. It worked great to get the vinegar in the system.

I let vinegar set 24 hours before flushing the system. I do this once a year.
