I'm up under the front of our coach, working on my leaky throttle valve. (More about that in a day or two.)
I noticed a "Cannon" plug hanging down from the big bundle of wires, above and slightly inboard of the steering box. Just wondering if anyone knows what this might be for? It doesn't look like it has ever been connected, so I assume it was for some device that is not present on our coach. I can't imagine what its purpose would be, especially in that particular location. It looks very Military - reminds me of my Air Force days.
Any guesses?
Have you plugged-in your handy-dandy VOM ?
No, I'm busy working on the air system...don't want to get side-tracked. I'll save investigating the plug for a time when I don't have anything else to do...like THAT will ever happen. DW: :snap:
Possibly a point for reading codes?? I have one of same hanging down beside engine and close to ECM location.

Mechanical C8.3 - no computer.
It looks like a DDEC Detroit connector maybe the wiring harness was roughed in for a 6V92 Detroit and then changed to a mech cummins
Possible...perhaps the factory wiring harness is "One Size Fits All" and has connectors built-in for every possible engine combo?
The six speed trans is electronic. Probably for it
Interesting. How does an electronic transmission mate with a mechanical engine? Does it get some parameters (such as RPM from the sensor that drives the tachometer, for example) or does it just run in a default mode and not require external sensors?
Inquiring minds, and all that . . .
They use a throttle position sensor, that send the information to the transmission brain.
Ya, no problem. Plenty of Caterpillar and Cummins mechanical engines with Allison electronic 6 speed transmissions.
