Splitting this important question about the dry PTO issue out into its own topic for better visibility.
Michelle, before seeing this post, I had asked a tech at MOT if they knew of this threat and they did and I understood routinely checked for lube when coach came in there for service.
But you asked about repair, and I can report that they had a customer with the PTO problem and they went to Colorado to fix it. I do not know the details of what they had to take with them or what a repair means. But I surely understood that they work on them.
I can check further at MOT and FOT if it would help.
I did get that casual info as I went by to ask about our 01, it needing a kit? My pump is driven off of the engine in the ISM I have, not off of the tranny. Thus a different set up that the PTOs in the thread. Then Roger E soon after that told me also not to worry.
Some folks are gathering at Nac, glad to say. Dave and Dolly leave tomorrow but still it seems a good group will be in.
Mike
Mike, I would appreciate where in Colorado they had the PTO replaced. I can tell you that FOT does not routinely check because I was there in 2011 and 2013 and not only did the not check mine but never mentioned any issues. Thanks Darrell
In 2009 while working at Lazy Days in Tampa I replace quite a few of those with wet kits on Country Coaches, It was not a fun job, but after doing several could do them faster than the book, so was able to make some time and money. I do not know if they have anyone there that can do it, but might as they have one department dedicated to chassis work only
Darrell, i asked today and MOT does and has done the revisions to the PTO to correct the dry problem. FOT does too as I read the threads.
As for where this can be done in Colorado, i understood MOT sent a person there to help that owner, who had bought from MOT, get their coach going. That may have been just to get it back to MOT to get the fix done in their shop or they did the work there, i do not know which way they handled the specifics
Thanks for checking Michael. I am surprised that FOT have not contacted all the affected owners and set up a standard procedure to correct these PTO at X price. But that requires leadership and being loyal to the owners which seems not to be the case under Mr. Reed.
Could of it been Transwest Truck Trailer & RV out in Fredricks, Co?
