Title: Supporting FOT, MOT and related workers
Post by: Lucky1 on April 27, 2016, 08:12:59 am
Is there an event where we ever buy these folks a beer or Diet Coke and break bread with them?  They sure work hard to help us and I would have an interest in sponsoring and or working at such an event.

In the meantime, for those you who help us all the time and track this forum, thank you.  I appreciate how hard you work to help us have fun and stay safe.  You've helped create tremendous memories with my family seeing now 43 states together in a motorhome. What you do has had no small impact on the relationships within my family, how we communicate and what we appreciate.  It matters.  I respect you and appreciate you.

Joe

Yes, some of us do at MOT.  About three or four times a year.  It is not an event tied to a holiday, but lunches.  If you want join us in these, send me pm and you or others as desire and able can work out paricipation in next one.  Favorite menus are burgers, gumbo, chili and brisket.  Morning donuts are popular too.  (MOT management also provides outings for their family.)

I hope some do this at FOT, they are hard workers there too and I imagine their regular customers recognize them.

You can always invite a couple at a time out to lunch.  That is popular, can be done in hour.  However for many it is day by day if can go, for if get in the middle of a project or crisis comes uo, they have to cancel.

Hope this helps you Joe to see some options to participate.

Last winter (Jan 2015) Mike and Jackie and Don and his wife made lunch for the entire staff at MOT.  We were invited and met just about everyone who works there.  It was a great time.  When I went back a couple weeks later to try to sneak in to get my slide adjusted they remembered me, knew my name and got me in the next morning.  So, it does happen. Mike keeps the bread buttered.  And Don makes a spectacular Gumbo!

Ah, you are kind Roger...got to get you here for our chili this fall.  And Doris Havard cocconut pies!  We just really enjoy the people, a chance to thank them...they truly care for their customers.

I have heard that there is quite a tradition of doughnuts from customers at FOT. For some reason, though, the doughnuts don't seem to stick to those guys like they do to me. While we were there one customer provided a bunch of gift cards so the guys could go out to lunch.

I always try to reward the workers that go above and beyond at MOT and FT. It is a important way to connect with these individuals and to let them know how much we appreciate their expertise and knowledge. Buying donuts or pizza for lunch is not that big expense. Rewarding with a tip is also used by me.
Recognizing the techs that are working on our coach is as important as proper service.

We need to have a Texas size Fortravel Rally in Nacogdoches. Arrive by hundreds and occupy every RV parking space :-)

Yes, but the brick surface is slightly uneven and limits the amount of Scoot on one's Boots. Careful!

I think FOT is planning their big 50th anniversary celebration for spring 2017.....so dancing in the streets of NAC might really be happening.....

Oh, and I like to give the guys cash, they can do whatever they like with that.... 8)

So, I guess we all have some time to elect the "King and Queen" of the FT parade down main street. Only this forum could organize such an idea. Count us in: A float (stripped down FT chassis) with our favorite posters waving would prolly keep U-Tube busy forever, not to mention National news.

Yeh, I can see it now. Mike in the front waving with medal for the most prolific Poster, Dave M and myself at the Bar in the rear, lyle Reed waving with a bag over his head, Roger E trying to fix the gps so we know where the heck we are going and John S sitting on the back bumper with a sign saying"these guys are nuts, I am going to delete them" Oh by the way Brad M is driving his Can Am and pulling the FT as the pto gave up at the start!! The Ladies (Carol and Mz Dani) are running alongside with candies for the kids. DrScruggs is following close with a needle and some Valium so us poor old folks can last till the end of the parade. Gadget guru can do the video.
Would'n't it be luverly??

If there is any way to find out if my 1981 40ft. rear diesel side radiator all electric is the first 40' diesel Foretravel built I might take it out of retirement and throw some tires on it and join the parade with it instead of my '99

Yes, but some of our smarter members should do some research about what will happen at high noon when 300 coaches hit their horns at the same time.

John, I too used to tip the techs, in addition to the doughnuts,  wondered how common this was?
Sorry we will miss the parade, keys up and coach at MOT on consignment. (health and "old age")

Hold on! You've been a trusted forum member. I've sent a message to Michelle asking if they could spare the forum Lear Jet to get you down to "honk the town away".  ^.^d

I brought in a full mextex-themed luncheon for everyone on one of my first service calls. I asked some of the service reps what the folks would like and, surprise surprise, that was the winner. Thought they would get tired of that.

I was shocked when, through the rest of that day and the next, everyone - and I mean everyone - made a point to stop and individually tell me how much they enjoyed and appreciated that. I mean, here I was trying to do something to thank them for all they were doing and they ended up thanking me! 'Course that may have been just good ole Texas manners, not something we are prone to see here in Northern Virginia.

I also make it a point to individually tip the guys that work on the coach during a visit. These folks are the best, and I hope to avail myself of their expertise for quite some time.

About a year ago I carried a couple of barbecue smoked briskets, beans, and potato salad to MOT and delivered it to their lunchroom.  The guys seems to really appreciate it.  Also, just as a couple of others have, I have tipped the guys working on my coach.

I'm due for service again soon.  Better fire up the BBQ pit.
