Title: 1979 Foretravel 38 Questions
Post by: Jack on May 04, 2016, 03:50:19 pm
Hello,
I'm looking at purchasing a 1979 Foretravel 38, according to the factory it was custom made that year.  1 of 1. ( what I've been told )
It has a Cummins VT555, I haven't heard much positive - your thoughts?
Has some issues with a broken windshield and missing body parts - what is the availability of parts on a coach this old?

Thank You for your expertise and insight

Jack

You will need build number. IF they have molds, they build fiberglass parts to order. Laid up a new left front fender for me last year. About $1,000. For the fender. Was glad I could get a factory one, at any price 1979??? Only parts dept can tell you, give them a call

I have a 1981 40' version same engine and trans. I was told by Foretravel over 10 when years ago that the records and parts for my coach had all been sold to another company. I have never needed any parts that weren't available on the open market. Does yours have the Mor-Ryde rear suspension? If so that is the one thing I had to repair. I used it from 1994 to 2012 and would still be using it if I could have put air ride on it.

Soon to be new operator...be gentle (http://www.foreforums.com/index.php?topic=18694.msg129328#msg129328)

Look at this old reply.  This Specialty coach was built in late 79 for Transit Casualty and is most likely like the one you have.  Have no idea where it went when company went belly up.
