Title: Rescued on the FOT parking lot.
Post by: Dave Cobb on May 04, 2016, 05:31:15 pm
We dropped in for a night for parts and to stay due to bad weather that day at home.  The next morning, a click and non starting engine!  I checked voltages at the dash plugs, tried the boost, checked engine battery voltages.

A walk into service about 9:30, resulted in the service manger finding Alton, who grabbed his meter and a tech.  Out to the coach we trooped.  He checked the same things I had checked.  But then he sent the tech to the dash and to try the key as Alton twisted the cables, and wow it started.  He turned to me and suggested some clean up and possibly a couple of new ends.  He offered he had a stall that just emptied, and would do everything right now.  We wrote a service ticket after the coach was plugged in in the bay.  They went thru all the misc ends, replaced two ends and had us out the door in less than 1 1/2 hours from my walk in.

All these connections and ends had been taken off, cleaned and spray coated when I installed my new Red Tops Feb. 14.  But now I know to be more carefull of things that are out of sight and usually work so well.

The experience was as good as my last several service experiences way back in 2011-12.  It was good to see every bay full, parts were going out over the counter.

LOVE to hear stories like this!!  The way it SHOULD be ....

We had a starter go bad right there in the parking lot on our '93 U225 (in maybe 2008) ... Hector changed it out right in our parking place!

Breaking down in a servicing dealer's parking lot is a wonderful thing!

I can say that Alton is great. I was in remodel and my HWH failed.  Alton got underneath and found the suspect jumper and fixed it right up.

Its hard to believe but I had the steering leak noticed while hooking up at the Camp Foretravel Campground, asked service desk for help, they sent Wayne, next AM was in his shop and got resealed.  Is strange how things work out some times. Two yrs later had a new steering gear installed.

Kinda like having a heart attack when you're visiting a relative in the hospital.

...yeh funny how that happens, huh? My ol' girl broke down on in the lot at Camp FT after leaving the dump station, on the way back to the parking space....was rescued by Ted & Karen and Jim Donivan....dang, hadn't thought of that in awhile....thanks guys....sad to think Jim's no longer with us, except in spirit of course.... O:)  ....but anyway, if ya gotta break down, might as well be at the home base.

...on another related note in a roundabout kind of way, about 40 miles down the road from GrandVention I had a travel solenoid go out on me...not long after arrival, Jack & Bobbie Bradshaw rescued me, made me a priority (knew I was traveling alone & was pretty freaked out) & fixed me up perfectly...love those two! Talk about timing....

Alton quickly fixed my water heater when the nylon plug blew out at Camp Foretravel. I did have to pay for the new plug.  ^.^d

Sure a bunch of Alton to our rescue stories.  Just shows how important his service department are to many of us.
