Title: Jeff and Carol's U225
Post by: Carol Savournin on May 14, 2016, 11:49:58 am
We owned a '93 U225 with the 5.9 Cummins for several years. We packed it pretty full when we went to Texas in the winters and pulled our loaded Jeep, as well. Yes, you have to take it slow and mind your gears on long upgrades. In the mountains (in NC) we were glad to have an actual Pac brake, and we geared down manually before descents. It was great to live in.  We sold it to Jor when we went full time, as I believed we needed more room.  He sold it to someone ... I surely wish I knew where it was now and hope that is it being treated well.  Loved it!

No, they have a 1995 U300, at least according to their signature. May be JOR's second coach, but is not the U225.

I believe walkerfam7 have Jor's 40 footer, a '95. Jor had two coaches at the same time, no clue where Carol's coach is. If he took his usual care, it's still cruising!

They are saying in their posts that they bought it from Jor, I just assumed, we know what that means.

Kind of confusing.  Carol was discussing their U225, as is the OP.

JOR owned two Foretravels, the U225 and the 1995 U300.

So, you are absolutely correct, walkerfam7 has JOR's coach, but not the U225.

My wife, Yvonne, and I have JOR's/Savournin's 93 U225; and it's being pretty well treated. Last year we towed my 79 Scout II to Acapulco and back; plenty narrow mountain and coastal roads and the rig did fine. Last August we towed my 24' enclosed trailer with my sand rail and BMW motorcycle in it through Utah, Montana and Idaho to the Canadian border. Pulled some pretty big hills along the way. We made it to the top every time; just did it going slow and had to stop a few times to cool down.

We spent a few days in January with some other FT owners just outside Quartzsite, AZ

We're planning another trip in Aug/Sept through New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, South Dakota, etc; only towing a small trailer with the motorcycle this trip. Should be a breeze.

That must make JOR and Carol happy to know the coach is still cruising.  ^.^d

We love this coach; it could be our last one.

Having read all of Carol's posts and knowing who JOR is, I'd say you got the pick of the litter!  ^.^d

No, I believe his first Foretravel WAS a U225.

If visiting with him: Cummins B 230 HP, Allison 4 speed, rear radiator.  That WILL identify the model!

JOR is a very interesting guy.  Many years ago when he was first considering a Foretravel, he drove over from the Tuscon area to Benson where Dianne and I were to look at our 1993 U240 (NOT for sale).  Guess he liked what he saw, as next thing I know he owns the U225.  Then got a newer one with more HP and bells and whistles.

He did, and when I talked with him he told me about the tour through your coach (now ours) that convinced them to go FT. Last time I talked with him, he was looking for a rare 34 footer. Hell of a nice guy, miss him on the forum.  ^.^d  How cool, joodyo just posted, they had three FTs !

So, when THAT member surfaces, the genealogy is current!  ^.^d

We need Barry Brideau to begin a "Genealogy Page" for each build number ... sort of like the "begats" in the Bible!!  That '93 is now on it's 5th owner in 23 years and still going.  The '95 we owned is now on owner #4 ... we are the 2nd owner of our '02.

I would like Barry to reconsider his decision............ he was a valuable member to this forum.

I think we all feel "unwanted" at times, but forget the fact that most others dont have that same feeling about us.......

Hope to see Barry back here soon..

True for me too... When we were agonizing over the purchase of our 99' U270 from a little hole in the wall RV dealer, Barry contacted me with the name AND phone number of the previous owner. I called the PO and got the needed info to make the purchase. It turned out that much of the paperwork history was in the documentation that came with the coach, but I didn't know that to be the case until we had it home. Since then, I have talked with Barry many times and he came to visit me while I was working on the bulkhead project. He has supplied me with encouragement and just in time info more than once. Great guy all around!

Perhaps the moderators could split this off into another post? Considering the topic of the last few post........
Just a thought
