Post by: Jim Sizemore on May 19, 2016, 12:49:30 pm
Thermostat set on minimum. Three hunks of ice in door shelves. Two are avacado, one is apple. Thoughts anyone?

Can you get a pic, Jim? We've had a gob of Dometic fridges, but not sure what model you have.

If the thermister is defective or not touching the fins the control board will run in "limp" mode, that is, it just runs all the time.

If that's the original fridge, everyone got their money's worth!  ^.^d  We had one of ours re-built and it lasted a whole year. >:D

Is the thermister the temp sensing tubing back there with the fins? mine is going behind a piece of material which is screwed over it. Looks to be holding it in physical contact with the metal that the fins seem to be part of....

Is it a three-way or two way fridge?

It's three way, MIke. Just finished reading Dometics how it operates but nothing about constant operation.
thinkin' about taking the two screws loose to see if crud is causing that little copper sensor to not contact the plate the fins are part of.(at least my avacodoes and apple are not spoiling!).

If it's the three-way, it's OLD AND IN THE WAY!  Dometic makes what's called the "Classic" and depending on your model, will retro into your rough opening. I'd (unless you luck out) get a Coach Buck ready and replace (not rebuild) it.  ^.^d

Troubleshooting information for the cabinet sensor can be found here Dometic Thermistor | Domitic Thermostat | Dometic Not Cooling | Dometic Repair (https://arprv.com/dometic-thermistor.php)
